What if the laser was remodeled? Half the sqaure we have now, with the other half being a round barrel sticking out of it with a lens in it.
It would then still be able to attach to shoulders and forearms as it does now, and when its built into the arms or chests only a small piece of the round barrel and lens would stick out.
I'd even add a bit of lenght to that barrel, make it 2/3 of the whole thing... you know, to fix all of them stumpy clanarms

That's a better example. Why couldn't PGI use the Orion arm Lasers? It has to be related to time constraints or something like that.
Agreed.
I get the need to use standard geo, but if you already did that treatment on the orion, why did you litterally have to smash those square pegged things into the round holes?
I get the need for standard geo, but I'm REALLY getting tired of those square laser heads on EVERYTHING that is coming out. Please bring back a bit of the better suited laser heads where applicable.
If you did it on the Orion, I don't know why you couldn't do it on the Mauler.

Great. Now you just got the Arms on the K2 on the list to ruin further........ DOH!!!!
and itty bitty PPCs and VCRs....careful what you ask for!
considering the last time the Orion or Catapult got any love, they probably forgot those assets even exist, lol.

Come on Bishop, we are talking the lens and bezel, not an entire arm or housing.
I don't think we need to worry about VCR syndrome when we are simply talking about taking the tip of the Orion arm and pasting it on the tip of the existing Mauler arm.
The only reason I can think of why they didn't do that, is MAYBE because it wouldn't work as easily with a ballistic hard point. I think there was an early video or photo with ballistic barrels in the arms and maybe it wouldn't work as well, who knows.
