That should give you an idea.
Edit: It has also been stated that the in-game mall will give no advantages over players who choose to play free.

He might have missed the part where the devs have repeatedly said it won't be P2W and that the mechs and weapons in the game can be purchased by non-paying players as well as paying players.

Every game dev team says that, it's often BS until proven otherwise, the fact that you can use real money to buy regular mechs is P2W enough to me just like in LoL where there's no point in actually playing the bloody game if you can just own everything in a minute.

Um...
First. This game isn't about owning all the mechs unlike WoT where you grind up tiers to reach better mechs. Here you grind all variants of a mech to get better perk unlocks to equip on those mechs.
Second. Owning all the mechs is still not P2W. Pay to win means you get an ingame advantage such as more damage, or better speed than a player who plays for free.
Third. You are right though they could always change their minds about it.

There will be no advantages of any sort. This issue has been addressed. The only "advantage" is getting all the mechs, big deal if you dont have good teamwork. Thats what Mechwarrior is all about. That is the main thing the devs are focusing on is making sure all mechs will have an equal opportunity to dominate the battlefield.
It will be fine.

Sure it has been stated by the devs several times, and I have no reason to doubt the sincerity of their words or intentions.
And I have no doubt this is how it will be once the game releases.
But what about 1 year or 3 years down the road?
What then, will they continue to follow this philosophy or will it gradually turn into P2W over time?
The reason I ask is because I have seen this before, they say that it will never be P2W and that the only things that will be store exclusive are "fluff" items, yet over time most of these games end up selling items in the store only that actually gives the player with the biggest wallet the greatest advantage.
I'm not saying PGI will do this, and I sincerely hope they will stay true to their word on this, but we really have no way of knowing how things will be down the road.
For all we know they may end up making less money than expected and have to do something to increase their revenues to be able to keep the game going, or things could change gradually so we dont notice it until its too late to do anything about it.
