I did a search but could not find any info on how the "game store" will work and costs. Is there any info on how it will work and costs?

Thank you.

Do you mean game store you purchase mechs and weapons from, or the one with items like Hula girl and other real money stuff?

There are not a ton of details yet, but most things that are purchasable with in-game currency (c-bills) will also be purchasable with real money (which they are call mechwarrior credits). There will also be some things that can only be purchased with real money, but the Devs have clearly stated that those will *never* give a power advantage which is unavailable to free players. I expect they will mostly be visual things: skins for mechs, cockpit trinkets, etc - combined with XP / c-bill boosters. Effectively you will be able to buy fluff and buy a faster grinding experience... but never power over other players.

The only things you can buy with real money (from what I've gathered) are premium accounts (increased EXP and c-bill gains from fights) and Hula Girls.

F*ck yeah Hula Girls.

the $80 of in-game currency that the founders get has already been stated by Russ that you can buy 8-10 medium mechs with that.

That should give you an idea.

Edit: It has also been stated that the in-game mall will give no advantages over players who choose to play free.

He might have missed the part where the devs have repeatedly said it won't be P2W and that the mechs and weapons in the game can be purchased by non-paying players as well as paying players. :D

Every game dev team says that, it's often BS until proven otherwise, the fact that you can use real money to buy regular mechs is P2W enough to me just like in LoL where there's no point in actually playing the bloody game if you can just own everything in a minute.

Um...

First. This game isn't about owning all the mechs unlike WoT where you grind up tiers to reach better mechs. Here you grind all variants of a mech to get better perk unlocks to equip on those mechs.

Second. Owning all the mechs is still not P2W. Pay to win means you get an ingame advantage such as more damage, or better speed than a player who plays for free.

Third. You are right though they could always change their minds about it.

One thing I'm concerned about is whether or not mech bays could only bought with real money. If you start out with four bays, and there's four variants for a particular mech chassis, then a f2p account will only be able to focus on taking one mech at a time to reach elite levels(if the level up chart stays with the same general format they've shown). This would leave less variety for the player and lead to boredom more quickly and less players. Either they focus on a single chassis or grind money endlessly to keep swapping out variants of two different chassis. If you can buy mech bays with normal credits, then you can take a break and swap to another mech chassis once in a while without selling and rebuying, even if it's a limited number of bays with normal credits. It's not so much a barrier, but more of a potentially massive hurdle if you want to only go f2p.

The chart I'm refering to is right here...

There will be no advantages of any sort. This issue has been addressed. The only "advantage" is getting all the mechs, big deal if you dont have good teamwork. Thats what Mechwarrior is all about. That is the main thing the devs are focusing on is making sure all mechs will have an equal opportunity to dominate the battlefield.

It will be fine.

Sure it has been stated by the devs several times, and I have no reason to doubt the sincerity of their words or intentions.
And I have no doubt this is how it will be once the game releases.

But what about 1 year or 3 years down the road?
What then, will they continue to follow this philosophy or will it gradually turn into P2W over time?

The reason I ask is because I have seen this before, they say that it will never be P2W and that the only things that will be store exclusive are "fluff" items, yet over time most of these games end up selling items in the store only that actually gives the player with the biggest wallet the greatest advantage.

I'm not saying PGI will do this, and I sincerely hope they will stay true to their word on this, but we really have no way of knowing how things will be down the road.
For all we know they may end up making less money than expected and have to do something to increase their revenues to be able to keep the game going, or things could change gradually so we dont notice it until its too late to do anything about it.

Great idea so far, would really help you customize your mechs.
