They're keeping totally mum about this it seems or only talking to certain people in back channel. I know only of "scout mode" of 4v4. I dunno about this. I really REALLY don't, but apparently to them it's a big deal.

My big deal is that they currently have the gameplay designed to burn out entire units in a week or two. Without a fundamental change in how planets are contested this WILL NOT CHANGE. Many good ideas put out there to make this into an epic battle of galactic conquest, but we have no idea what, if any ideas are being taken. I also know the clock is ticking towards the end of this game if CW's Phase 3 does not come out fast. Wargaming is going to be releasing the MMO version of "Master of Orion" next year. Star Citizen might happen finally, I dunno, and of course Hare Brained Schemes is positioning to take every player that prefers a slower/strategic game away and leave this only to twitchy players which play mostly on consoles, not PCs. Not to mention major game design flaws that encourage terrible game experience needing a drastic overhaul.

So, I don't know, but something needs to move and fast and be a huge improvement in so many areas. we shall see if the message from the community was heard and heeded soon.

3rd party CW is not a viable option IMHO.

There was meaningful CW back in 1992, witth Kesmai's first MPBT game on GEnie's mainframes and later their own server (ARIES). I would kickstart a serious CW mode with at least $500 if it had core features in my signature thread.
