Step 1: Stop putting chokepointed maps with gates, and start making natural maps with randomized (attacker) spawn locations. (Can have them be set spawns, but more than 3 of them, and chosen in a random pattern.) Make the bases more realistic (give them some walls with a lot of turrets with different strengths, designed to be defended) and not at the end of the "Canyon of the crescent moon."

It's not perfect, but it's a hell of a lot closer than where we are now.

Lights: Scout.
Mediums and heavies: QRF
Assaults: Brick Walls or Battering rams.

(If you want to boost it even further: add to your info tech, armor and structure buffs to assault mechs, so they are significantly more durable than the heavies that outrun them so badly.)

Those walls and gates are the reason why i quit playing CW almost as soon as it was introduced to MWO.
A light mech has nowhere to properly flank and the fights become so up close that stealth is nearly impossible.
