Re-downloading the game after the last time I quit and while waiting got to thinking about the trouble SC is having. What could PGI be doing to protect themselves. Can we be doing something help PGI?

Star Citizen has always reminded me of Battlecruiser 3000, and the similarities only increased when they tried to do the FPS module. That said, Derek Smart isn't the sort of person who should comment of Star Citizen's hype and feature creep. That's like the 100-year-old-industrial-grade-coal-fueled-boiler calling the kettle black.

The biggest irony about DS is that for as bad a reputation as he has, he is doing a pretty good job with putting CIG on it's heels. There's a good chance his uber-trolling could actually get rid of all the unmanaged scope creep CR is well known for since decades ago. I'm just worried that after he gets done fixing SC, DS will look for another developer to go after. Kind of worried about PGI/MWO... :/

It's not feature creep when people are paying you extra to add more features. Take a look at the old crowdfunding goals if you don't believe me.

To my knowledge Derek Smart knows about MWO and doesn't care. He was a backer of SC which is why his shorts are knotted. Beyond that who frakking cares.

Money has nothing to do with it. They keep adding features and pushing the game out years at a time. They would have had the game done and been working on version 2 by now.

Not really, the full release of SC was always planned to be no sooner than late 2016, meaning about 4-5 years in development total, which is perfectly acceptable for a triple A game. They could delay it for a year or more and they'd still be faster than half of the respected big name developers.

Derek Smart is a legit, diagnosable narcissist. He is a badly broken human being with a blog and in the modern day that makes him a celebrity. He goes around trying to make everything be about him and if it's not about him, it's terrible and evil and should change.

To be about him.

Like every other terribly broken people on the internet he has a following of fans who are, by association, pretty broken. I'm past mocking these people, anymore it just makes me a bit sad. Imagine how the mothers and fathers of those people feel; to look at them and realize they did that to society. Knowing you failed humanity like that has got to sting hard.
