Dual-gauss as cheese, it feels like the old days complaining about the Catapult-K2

The Mauler is basically the posterboy of the sorry state of weapon balance in MWO. You're more likely to see a unicorn on Terra Therma than to spot a Mauler with all three weapon types: energy weapons, missiles and ballistics. Everyone's just boating ballistics or rocking gauss+lasers.

On a positive note... I just got out of a match where the enemy team had 4 Maulers (and a Dire Wolf, just for extra lols) and none of them carried any missiles. And they were all the first to die. 4-0. Four dead min-maxed Maulers within 4 minutes.

Lol, I am telling the meta to take a flying leap, my Mauler runs 2x LRM10, 1 or 2 ammo, 4 AC2, 3t ammo and 2 LL or PPC, max ammo and a few more DHS. XL270 atm<<Tried to work in a standard engine, not a fan of XL...but meh. Mech looks so mcuh better as a Mauler and not as a ******* child of a Templar and a battlemaster....

Well....that match I did get 3rd on the team in Match score @314(highest being like 356?), 450 some dmg, 2kills, 4 assists. Sooo.....idk. I guess it worked well enough. Maybe not a meta cheese carry hard game of 4500 dmg, 13 kills, but, meh, I dont carry hard. I play to participate, help my team and win. And yes, I died lol....Those XL side torso...I couldnt twist enough, and everything seemed directed at one torso.

Think I'm just going to try to run quad LRM5, quad AC2, dual ER large laser now. A long range loadout using all weapon types. My brawler variant ran dual AC20s, dual SRM6, and dual medium lasers. I just like boating ballistics for the dakka honestly, and the dual gauss dual PPC is nearly mandatory to test if you got a Mauler.

How is that any different than Direwhales? Bout time the IS get a mech that can successfully do 2 Gauss while still having room for a couple LL or ERPPC's.

And its a delicious bowl of soup to. In the meta world of MWO, yeah, its prolly a bad build. But it gets me dreaming of a day when we get a mechwarrior game where its more about tactical thinking and playing our mechs over just meta building and lolphing
