For example all the Hunchbacks have this extra slot, the FS9-S has it, but not the -A.
The Oxide has the extra slot, but no other Jenner.
No Enforcer has one nor any Wolverine.

What's going on?

It's quite a substantial advantage to be able to have an extra module.

But the FS9-S is the only Firestarter that has an extra slot... and that's one of the best variants, even without the extra slot

Modules slots were assigned way before quirks. Back then the FS9-S was inferior to the K and A due to having 1 less hardpoint. Extra module slots were given to variants like that or generally underperforming mechs to try to make them on par with other chassis.

they flip a coin to see how many slots a mech gets

I assure you theres no logic or reason to it.

OK, thanks. But maybe this should go into the whole balance deal then as well....

Meh. I'd just as soon every mech has the same slots. I'm not really a fan of modules anyway, they offer the illusion of choice but in reality there are a couple that are basically mandatory and that is most likely how it will always be.

Because it seems that this is where people hang out, and it was a general question.

Right on both counts. Don't mind Winter, he's just getting grumpy because he hasn't picked a fight on the forums for at least a day. He'll be ok by tonight.

Ahem.
The Oxide have no JJs.

Someone explain to this guy what happens when a light mech going at 140-150 kph jumps off a couple pebbles with no JJs. Or a Shock Absorbance module.

It is balance.

p.s. don't forget it's a hero mech too.

Do all Hero's have them? Mine does.

Won't matter, rebalance has a TON of added slots.

Dire Wolf;

2 Mech Modules
3 Weapon Modules
1 Mech/Weapon Module
1 Consumable

It's about balance now if it was not then as well.

Uh well I was just thinking of how PGI can't sell a hero mech that has either a module disadvantage or a life expectancy disadvantage.

But I suppose yeah.
