Or pick BLR-2C which has more HP than an Atlas :D

yep, i'm currently into battlemasters. bought 3 a week ago, including the 2C, it's stupidly tanky compared to other battlemasters.

also highlander 732b. that think has more CT armor then an atlas.

Been running a 2C a lot myself, love that thing.

And there are ways to run mostly ballistics and still get high alphas. As someone mentioned, AC/20 builds can shoot, twist. Gauss can do the same, though with a little more timing and planning involved.

Even a pair of 10s with some pulses, low facetime there, and I've actually seen a few good pilots running that one to good effect.

Just because you can slap 6 smaller ACs in something, or 4 UACs, doesn't mean you have to. Crab gets away with it due to it's low profile, and more armor than the MAL. MAL are built more like a BNC, and most BNCs don't run high facetime builds either, except the triple 5's build, which shreds stuff too quickly to care.

If you are in a big, slow assault with big shield arms, and are manform, use that to protect yourself, otherwise you're a walking target.

Is this really a mech problem, or pilots forgetting that you need to torso twist in non-Stalker assaults?

I ask not out of sarcasm, but curiosity, after killing a bunch of MALs so far that seem to just sit and stare, never twitching in any direction...then promptly complain about their CT right after they get cored to death.

I run BNCs and BLRs often, and even though the twist isn't spectacular on BLRs, you still do it, and it keeps you alive.

Yes I know how to twist, but when your running Dakka builds you inherently get more face time, its just how it works. A little CT buff would help a little for all the Dakka lovers out there.

Mauler is fine. Theres plenty of mechs hurting way more than the Mauler.

The poor kitfox for example is a 30 ton mech thats the size of a stormcrow. It doesnt get the lag shield of other lights either because its top speed is pathetic.

At least the Mauler isnt scaled poorly. If anything should get a massive CT armor buff its the kitfox.

I love all of the Mauler variants but they are a little soft in the middle. Both ST's and CT are a bit weak. But that seems to always be the case for Assaults. The big tank mechs go down like drunk prom dates. I guess I can always rely on my firestarter if I want to survive the entire match.

Dakka builds survive by shooting first and keeping the target rocking too much to aim back properly, its their version of twisting, because they obviously cant twist while firing.

Mauler should be the best dakka assault in the IS stable (if its not better than the 3E there is a problem, because .. 4UAC5 should be > 3xAC5

The Mauler does feel like a CT magnet, but if this continues, it might just mean it is time to upgrade all of them to XLs.

Besides, I'm a Catapult pilot, I'm used to trying to protect a large CT. Lol.

Why do people say more quirks are needed instead of learning how to best use the Mech?

also, 25 team damage, you should feel bad, bro. reaaaallly bad ;)

Running SRM builds at the moment and I've had games with 40 team damage. SRMs are slow and friendlies tend to walk into them, and enemies out of them (hitting the friendlies behind).
