First off let me say good job, beautiful game. Now let's get to the point. In any of the other mechwarrior games the i have played i could chose what controlled the YAW and steering and in this game you can't, guess what? It's not set up like I am used to. I also have a X52 that i use for Elite: Dangerous, but this game was not intended to be played with a HOTAS, I'm not saying you can't, I'm just saying that it feels better (to me) when played with a keyboard and mouse, I just wish i could steer with my mouse and YAW with "A" and "D", right now if it was"Bumper Battlemechs" i would win every round.

Thank You

It's set up like every other FPS game that I've ever played, with the WASD controlling the legs and the mouse controlling the view/aim. Has felt natural since Day One for me, though I've played all of the MechWarrior games since MW2.

A little different than the other FPS titles I've played (Castle Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Doom2, Doom3, Half Life, Half Life 2 (& Eps -2), Portal, Portal 2, Team Fortress 2, Left4Dead, Left4Dead2, Ghost Recon, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, Rainbow Six (and Rogue Spear, 3, and Raven Shield), Crysis (and 2 - 3), Battlefield (2, 2142, 3), Borderlands (and 2, TPS), FEAR (and 2 - 3), Delta Force (through and including 3), to name a few). Not TOO different, though.

More like World of Tanks. Actually, a LOT like that.

Sorry, what was the point again?

About the only thing I ever noticed was that A and D strafed in other games. MWO doesn't have a strafe, as 'Mechs cannot perform that movement. Was an extremely easy transition though.

I swear I had something for this...

Seriously, though. It makes sense enough. It's not that hard to learn.

And I have a very serious problem with the use of the term 'strafe' for this side-to-side movement. Really? I mean, that's just me being a pedantic twirp, I know. But still. That's language, I suppose. I ain't gotta like it...

The controls are fairly straightforward, at least as far as movement goes. I personally like to turn off the throttle decay, as it's a bit of a pain to have to hold the 'W' (or in my case, D-Pad up on the N52) to keep my speed. Maintaining movement is vital in this game. Sitting still and camping is alright in some other games, at least situationally (I knew some top-notch campers in The Combat Zone's Ghost Recon 5v5 ladder). In MW:O? Not often at all that it's wise to sit still.
