After playing on the PTR for an hour I think the balancing is overdone.
The sensor range/ target aquisition nerfs are way overdone for mechs that traditionally use LRMs making them near useless. Target info gathering is not a big deal, people may glance at a paper doll if they get a sec but otherwise we are shooting a specific area on a mech determined by what we anticipate that mechs load out to be. Tag/narc overcoming lock time nerfs would be a step in the right direction.
The obvisual broken percentages on many mechs in regard to acceleration / deceleration speed , torso twist ranges and speed. Surely 50% reduction is an error, especially on mechs like the hunchback, which has been the go to suggested mech for new player by us that haunt the new player forums helping convince people to give you money.
Lack of weapon quirks: not sure if it occurred to you guys that maybe just reducing positive weapon quirks across the board and adding in the sensor quirks on top would have been a better place to start. Weapon quirks do make or break an IS chassis in particular. Takeing them away is a bad thing.
Another thing I don't care for is removal of module slots, if anything adding more would push more people away from 6 laser boats, now with only one slot I am less likely to carry a gauss rifle with a cool down module in addition to 3 or 4 med lasers. Now it makes more sense to just boat large lasers and a range or cool down module with all the heat sinks I can tote. Especially since with the structure quirks I do less damage per ton of ammo with ballistics.
Last point....why now on an anniversary weekend would I decide to spend so much time on the PTR when I can't bring my rewards with me back to the play servers. Seems counterproductive if you want this tested and ready to release on the 22nd.
I have put in maybe 1k into this game on my account alone, and have bought gift codes for friends and relatives to get them started playing to the tune of another 300 dollars. I hope that this is not what you plan to release on the 22nd. It has potential but is far far from balanced and with more time you will see more constructive criticism from the community instead of the I hate it and I am rage quitting posts flying around at the moment.
