First off I have to say that I'm not a fan of the new system and hope it gets back-burner'ed and completely redone.

Something I see becoming an issue and causing frustration, esp among new players, is the super long target acquisition delay some mechs have been straddled with. As it is now if a light can get around behind an assault they can cause it a lot of grief. That's fine but with +4 to target acquisition (even when on top of you) and instant restart of that clock the moment it dances behind you, a good light pilot can attack without fear of the assaults team even realizing he's in trouble. This will lead to a LOT of frustration in an area that's already a sore spot for many.

I like the idea of some tinkering with sensors but the numbers are too big and really it should be the type of mechs are targeted that determine how long things take. A locust shouldn't be picked up as fast as a freaking DW... But I love the idea of long distance delays for smaller mechs as it makes sneaking around without ecm a possibility.

I think the acquisition is actually a nice touch, especially with regard to the under-represented Light Mechs. However, I think that the Assaults were generally hit too hard. Case in point, I was looking at the stats on my BLR-1S, which were similar to my BLR-1D. Based on the gameplay sample from my 1D, the 1S would take way too long to acquire a target to be an effective LRM boat. If the PTS build were to go live, I would probably wind up scrapping the 1S as an LRM carrier and convert it entirely into an SRM or LPL boat.

Other Mechs, such as the HBK-4G, felt very good with their sensor quirks. I just think the value need to be finessed a bit with the view in mind that certain Mechs will play certain roles regardless of what the quirks come out to be. The HBK-4G or 4H will likely run large ballistics. The BLR-1S will probably keep its LRMs for most folks. With this in mind, the sensor quirks need to be done appropriately for those niche builds that people love to play and that make sense for those Mechs.

I certainly agree that it could a nice tool but so many quirks are just over done. I wholeheartedly feel that acquisition nerfs should be severely reduced when the enemy mech is close to you. Oh and I do feel bad for anyone trying to LRM in the PTS. lol
