I woke up this morning with an idea. What if some mechs had quirks on their ghost heat, things like being able to fire an extra weapon before ghost heat kicks in, or on the negative side less weapons before ghost heat.
For example an Awesome could be given the ability to fire 4 or 5 PPCs before ghost heat kicks in, this way the Awesome could have its instant high damage alpha (though not super high compared to others) and not completely overheat. PPCs are hot by themselves anyway, at most an Awesome would get off probably 2 alphas before needing to sit it out for awhile. Maybe the Hunchback 4P could be boosted to 9 medium lasers before ghost heat kicks in.
These two mechs aren't the best ones out there, but they could benefit from the ability to fire the weapons they are built for without igniting from ghost heat.
I'm not really one for nerfing things, especially with ghost heat, but I guess it could be used for that too, so you guys could come up with stuff for that.
In short this could allow some mechs that are built specifically to boat weapons more ability to boat than mechs that generally aren't. We shall hail our new Awesome overlords.

Or how about they rework the heat scale and get rid of ghost heat entirely?

What you're describing is designed to make the Awesome viable.
That's your first mistake.
PGI doesn't care about making the Awesome viable.

Removing, or at least reducing ghost heat for assaults might bring their popularity back to the level of Heavies.
When you think about it, ghost heat prevents an assault from using any more weapons than a Heavy mech can already tote.
No ghost heat atlas would make it a legendary terror again.

I didn't know there were Atlas builds with enough hardpoints to actually hit ghost heat, other than the 4 SRM variant and if you are running a bunch of LRMs. That or one of the ones with the 2 or more energy slots per arm if you are using large lasers or PPCs.
This means its a buff to the boar's head at least, there we go it increases sales.
