1. Change ECM / Radar derp to not be hard counters and instead tweak target acquisition / lock on time / lock on decay for those under the effect.

- Removes the automatic 'trumping' of IW by any ECM mech

- Still provides much of current function , but for a limited time.

- Makes sensor quirks (and some existing mech modules) useful as not hard countered


2. Implement different maximum detection range for sensors on a chassis basis

- Range altered by sensor quirks (good sensors more useful)

- e.g. Locust detectable only within 300m

- e.g. Dire Wolf detectable up to 1000m


3. Make lock-on actually worth it with some statistical effects (good sensors more useful)

- e.g.Critical damage bonus chance to any mech locked-on, critical penalty if not locked on.

Actually, making ECM disable IFF like it used to will work wonders on information warfare. :D
