As most of you know, with the coming balance changes all weapon quirks have been removed. At least for now, if you play on the PTS you will see. I for one welcome these changes with open arms, I'm so tired of the stale, boating lazors and stale poke gameplay. In fact it's nearly impossible to play anything else, specially a brawler, because every one will just kill you with large lasers before you can do anything.

So bring it on PGI, and I hope weapon quirks stay gone forever. I also wish you would remove the ability to change load outs in the mechlab, but that will never happen.

In fact I haven't even been playing this game because the gameplay is stale and boring.

Brotip: Weapon quirks didn't make lasers the go-to weapon on most mechs, Clan lasers being stronk and the IS having to try to counter it was what caused it.

Brotip 2: In some cases weapon quirks made non-laser builds more desirable. That's gone now. Be careful what you ask for, because you might very well get it.

We'll see about no weapon quirks and the new structure/movement quirks, but I'm afraid that there will be variants that won't get used anymore once the weapon quirks go away. I actually like the structure quirks so that mechs live longer. Spectating sucks (bring on respawn).

As far as not being able to change loadouts, the Mechlab has been a staple of the MW games for a long long time. I don't know anyone that isn't a lore person that wants stock loadouts. For decent pilots, the battle is won in the Mechlab before ever dropping on the battlefield. And I don't mean whatever loadout is the current hot combo or flavor of the week. I mean really testing optimum builds for your playstyle starting in the Mechlab.

What quirks specifically brought lasers to the meta forefront, in your eyes?

Admits he doesn't actually play the game...

Admits he has no clue as to what the "balance changes" implied by the PTS will result in...as the meta will not change, apart from losing IS mechs, so his own statement makes no sense.

Admits he wants the mechlab gone, therefore proving he has no idea what makes this game even fun or a thing for many of it's players..

Yeah, either troll thread, or this guy is really as clueless as he comes off in every single post.

Don't buy any of it. Especially because the last couple times I have brought a brawler to the solo pub queue I got one of the best scores on my team.

Also, tell us how removing the IS quirks has removed Clan laser vomit builds from viability.

I brawl and strike close-in all the time.

I have fun bringing out short range mechs, just gotta hope you spawn on the right side of certain maps like Alpine when your effective range is only 185 M, but that's a risk I'm willing to take!

And the test is only in its first phase, so once work is done with survivability and sensors (probably a good way to put it), more layers are gonna be added in subsequent phases. So don't be so sure that we will no longer see weapon modifying quirks.

They need to be clear on this, and asap, in order for any further testing to have merit. Right now, as it is, it's just a flop. If they're fully intending to make other changes, like adding back in weapon quirks, then they need to be clear on that point. Both about what changes they plan to make, and when.

Until then, taken at face value...none of it makes any sense whatsoever.

Indeed.

It's briefly mentioned here at the end, but they should have been more obvious and assertive of that point. And I think that there should have been an in-game message, like the message of the day found in Unit Chat in the PTS regarding such info.

I can't believe they even took away the velocity quirks....

Boating lasers happens because ACs are crap, missiles are crap and there are few mechs like the DRG-1N or TDR-5SS that will wreck your face if they get close to you after you meta poke at them and fail to contain.

What you want is a different game. On the bright side the coming PVE is probably very close to what you want.
