I still play it and wrecked a Direwolf today.
Do i get a cookie?
Jokes aside but the 'imago' or better said the reputation of the Atlas is already gone since shortly after the Direwolf got introduced. Everybody thinks its a teddybear but i don't hand you my dogtag over that easy!

that's because the "new system" was never meant to be the "new system" with anything remotely representing finalized numbers.

Considering this is all PTS, will change A LOT, and won't be pushed to the live server according to Russ "Until it is ready." I'd say just keep your hopes up and wait to see what happens.
An atlas that takes roughly 50% more damage than it can now scares me a bit, not gonna lie. I might be tempted to **** my pants turning a corner into them if the balance is done right. They'll be the mechs they should, taking hit after hit and just KEEP LURCHING TOWARDS YOU firing its weapons in your face.
A lumbering atlas with no weapons isn't a threat. The structure quirks don't really help much when the clans with their targeting computers are critically hitting and killing all their weapons long before the structure is gone.
If the structure buffs actually represented real structure boosts, as in max armor value = 2x structure value they might be on to something. And the structure boosts could be small, in the 5-10 range on assaults and it's a huge boost.

But the sad part is, before they came out and said this will be a long process, we we're just testing what was going to be patched in come the 22nd.
So it was meant to be the "new system" until the player base tried it and W.T.F.'d all over the forums.
Edit;
More structure does not make a mech useful longer. If you have no weapons (the things the ARMOR is protecting) then who cares if you can wander around the battlefield weaponless for 15 minutes.
If anything give the Atlas chassis a +%33 to armor. That would make it tank better.

except that before the PTS even went live, Russ had stated (1) that is was not going live on the 22nd , period, and (2) that it would not be implemented at all, until and unless, they got the input needed that it felt "right".
Also, still not sure structure works the way it's supposed to. The first HBK quirks were armor on the RT and literally the moment that armor was breached, I lost the AC, every single time. They switched to structure quirks, and now I pretty much never lose the AC until the whole torso goes.
Again, is that how it's supposed to work, does it make sense? Nope. But with 300 some matches in that mech post initial quirks, it is what it is.

Sorry Bishop, but we've heard those kinds of assurances before.
At a bare minimum, this PTS session was yet another colossal communications failure from PGI. It's their public test server. In order to test properly, we need to know what we're testing.

I can agree that they largely failed at communicating. And that this has been an issue since Open Beta, basically. It's improved for short spans, then falls back to being poor. We get more info, than we used to, but often it's not the info we need at the time.

Maybe this is why only ONE of each of the variants were buffed?
Just a thought....

Pretty sure this does not mean all weapon quirks are gone and mech A gets X structure. BUt I have been wrong before.

I HAVE FAITH IN THIS REBALANCE. (btw, I'm a clan pilot, but I miss Atlas being scary when running into one around a corner)

I love how in every Battletech related image, if the mech is shooting lasers, it's always shooting EVERY LASER. All or Nothing...nothing should ever be done in moderation, especially lasers.

I REALLY hope we have the player base one day to make this it's own queue. Looks like so much fun.
