I think the game is pretty decently balanced..when you consider the game as a whole its not just weapons that make up game balance.
Take the clan prob for example.(useless) where as the IS BAP is very usefull and can detect ECM...clan prob cannot...clan only gets 2 mechs that can ecm i think..IS gets what?2,4,6?
clan may get a slight adv in weapons range...BUT there are only a couple maps where range is an issue and usen you're brain and the terrain can over come this easily.

IF you're basing you're opinions on pug matches..then the entire topic is pointless..becuz i dont care what you change, nerf,or tweak you will never be able to fix stupid..wich pug matches have in abundance..you will never and can never nerf or fix stupid.

so sorry

P.S game balance that works in favor of IS wich is what IS players are really after..can be found in game..just open ur wallet and buy a hero or champion mech..and then YOU will have the advantage..er balance i ment to say =)

Where do people even come up with this stuff?

CAP is better than the BAP, having identical features, but 30M greater shut down detect range and a half ton lighter and a crit slot smaller.

Clam ECM mechs are also the top tier mechs, while IS gets trash for the most part.

You are so clueless...

CAP is BETTER than BAP. No one is arguing that. BUT, the total load out that is allowed by locked hardpoints on the given Clan Chassis is also limited by how much it can load. The only good performers on the Clan side that can take advantage of these are the Chassis that have an excess of slots+available tonnage.

With normalizing the weapons and tech, you are making EVERY Inner Sphere Mech better(i.e. competitive), while making only 3-4 Clan Mechs competitive. If that happens why don't they just remove the dead Chassis that this will create.

I thought the goal here was to make the game balanced? You know, so people can take whatever Mech they wanted and actually enjoy it, not forced into a Meta-Tryhard build copied from MetaMechs. Silly me....

And that is the pint of quirks, to help the underperformers. Not to giga quirk every other robot.

The baseline is too high, but that doesn't help Trash Tier Omnis. They can get unlocked (Mr Gargles Battlemech is only moderately Terribad), or just get significant quirks. 20% less ERML heat is a good and significant example, along with armour and heat dissipation (for all the damn PoorDubs/missing TrueDubs).

The goal is to make ALL Chassis viable. Right?

I seriously think that the answer to this problem is not with the mechs themselves, but the pilot skills. They need to forget quirks and allow people to customize their own experience with a MUCH more in depth skill system. A skill system that would grant lesser rewards on higher performing Chassis.
