PGI poorly communicated what the intention of the test was. They also ran it during the Anniversary event, which could have been timed better. Other than that... chillax. It is not the end of the world... it is just the first step in a longer process.

Anyone not getting that a test is a test can safely be called an idiot.

Except when they post in August, that in September on the 22nd they will be patching in "Mech Rebalance".

Hard to call people idiots when in fact it is PGI.... oh nevermind.

So if PGI states that "something" will be Patched in "sometime" after some "testing" is done, that would be better? Because for many of the HATERS it seems, any date is just food for their HATE... even if they make the deadline...

Haters gonna Hate...

P.S. No wonder PGI wants absolutely SFA to do with theseForums... ever...

In fact that is true, if they up front said we're going to test some new balance idea and see if it is viable and would like your feedback, there likely would have been FAR LESS rage.

Not everyone is checking to see if they changed their mind daily.

Last thing most people read before the PTS went live was Sept 22nd this **** will be patched. Hence the vomit on the forums.

Poor communication gets poor results.

The Inner Sphere has always been doomed. When they weren't nuking themselves back in to the Dark Ages, they've been Genocidal in their hatred of people 'not their own' in such a manner as to be doomed even when not using Nukes.

So what does poor listening get? Oh right uninformed pitchfork mobs...

Russ said exactly that two(?) months ago at the previous Town Hall when he talked about the balance pass. That it was going to have some PTS iterations and it wouldn't go live unless the system was better than what we have now based on the testing and feedback. People forget/ignore that. The roadmap was targets for the live release with the assumptions that the playtesting was done in early September and that the results were favorable. Pretty obvious both of those are not true.

That said, what was released on the PTS was an unmitigated disaster, and there is some justifiable panic and rage about what was released. But anyone that thinks that this was going to be released live in its current state or even after some minor tweaks is just stirring the pot to get people riled up and a lot of times with wrong information to fuel it.

Thank god for the Clans! Lol. The clans are a bunch of slave driving, testube grown meatheads that spat on every natural born human. I wonder how many of their own free birth citizens had been murdered by a true birth and it just gets swept under a rug.

Basically, in BT, every government is bad, just to varying degrees.

Maybe Clan Wolf and their Warden ways was pretty decent for a clan, there were still the bitterly cruel Smoke Jaguars.

Maybe Davion is a decent house, well if MechWarrior 4 is to be believed, Steiner were the opposite. A group of evil sadistic villains.

Yea, I wouldn't want any of those governments in charge of mankind. It's all about the lesser evils fighting the greater evils. Just pick which one you like.

Hardly a white knight. But I don't spread mis-information when the correct information is verifiable like in my above post. Or is that what qualifies as a white knight these days?

Yea don't worry most of us fit the "white knight" definition Jeffers. If you don't spend most of your day complaining or hating on PGI, you are knighted sir. Welcome to the order.

Although I gotta say this last weekend was comedic gold. People really took it to a whole new level

But now...

Russ only 3 weeks ago. This

Not everyone wants to sit and watch a podcast/town hall.

If it wasn't meant to go live the 22nd then why post it like he did. Because he thought Paul had some idea of what was going on.

And here we are now trying to put out the forum fire.

I'm not hating on PGI, ( didn't even try the PTS ) But to those white knighting remember that PGI ask's for this by not actively participating in their own forums. Even Tina the new community manager has been fairly silent.

Should have been a giant post regarding the PTS and the new mech balance idea, proper outlines of ideas and general direction intended.

But this isn't the first time PGI starts a riot.

Edit; More importantly, please buy a mech pack. Here

And? The road map specifically says that there will be *full run* play tests in early September. And as I said in my previous post:
The roadmap was targets for the live release with the assumptions that the playtesting was done in early September and that the results were favorable. Pretty obvious both of those are not true.

People are really playing selective memory here just to put PGI to the fire. They have a long history of missing dates (and getting vilified for it) for major feature changes, and yet everyone that is posting that 22nd date as if it was something set in stone that was going to happen hell or high water. Sheesh, double standard there. Should he have updated that they were slipping the date the first week of Sept instead of just on twitter? Sure, no argument from me. But I don't ignore all the other avenues of communication the PGI uses, and in fact most people link them here. The onus of being informed is on the end users, and not everything under the sun is posted in 'General Discussion'. Choosing to ignore other avenues of communication and then posting incorrect information or assumptions is just being willfully ignorant. If being informed qualifies as a white knight, then I guess I'll proudly wear that tag.

I get that the playtest was a disaster and I think there are a lot of things wrong with it, but I am not so foolish to believe that it was going to roll out in anything resembling that form on the 22nd.

Heh you say foolish... but,

Having a PTS be a disaster and giving them negative feedback on it hasn't stopped them from patching in it before.

-Ghost Heat
-U.I. 2.0
-Clan Balance
-Quirkening

Every step they trip and tumble and not much gets changed before implementation. Hence the disdain towards there "feedback" and hoping things will change.

Not to mention all of the above (with exception to the UI) is what created the balance problem we currently have, PGI keeps adding layers without making sure the prior parts are well balanced.

I'm not saying the game is going to die ( likely won't ), but to be giving PGI the benefit of the doubt for 3+ years is asking a bit much. If you've been trying to balance for 3 years and fail miserably, I think it's time to give that job to someone else. <_<

PGI did a real piss poor job of informing players what the test was about. This was Tina's first real test as Community Manager and I think she failed it. How hard would it have been to take the equivalent of the the first 8 minutes of Sean Lang's Balance Video to explain what they were doing.

Why would EVERYONE assume the ONLY thing being tested was the Infowar system when so much else had been changed?
