I see Fraps and Bandicam come up quite a bit. Bandicam seems pretty good, but has been having some flakyness concerning Champions Online.

MSI Afterburner looks pretty good for a free alternative, but doesn't handle MW4Mercs all that well. I tried Camstudio, and Taksi but neither seem to be working at all for me.

Camstudio is an unstable, inconsistent mess of a program. Really, fraps has always worked best for me.

$37 is expensive, yes, but once you have it, you have it forever, including updates.

I have to completely agree that Fraps is the way to go, so long as you're running Windows. I paid for it a long time ago and yeah, $37 isn't exactly something I throw away every day, but I haven't regretted the purchase. If you're looking at doing high-quality video capture I highly recommend you pick up a second HDD, because those .avi files will quickly fill up free space. ;)

The Xfire client (http://xfire.com) has video recording most of the 1,000+ supported games.

I use playclaw ... used to use fraps but when recording old games it came out very dark. Playclaw seems to be working best for me.

Nice looking program. I can't seem to get it to work with MW4, have you had any luck doing the same?

Use Fraps here, never had a problem and great quality but eats up Hard drive space pretty fast though
