It's been bugging me for as long as I have ever seen them. They're pesky critters and everyone seems unsure how to pronounce the name, which adds to the hilarity when people pause giving it another second or so to get away.

I've usually pronounced it "HUGH-gin" (hard g on the gin part) aka hyugin, other people pronounce it like "hugging." My reasoning was that it was probably a name and naming a mech after hugging was kind of silly, unless it was a brawling mech meant for hugging, which the Huggin is not.

I think when I looked before I found this is one hero that is only in MWO and not in Lore, so I could find no authoritative information on it.

huggin' of course
it's exactly what he does anyway, runs and hugs you with 2 srm-4

p.s. it's a name of one of the odin's ravens, muninn ('memory') and huginn ('thought')
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huginn

http://norse-mytholo...ugin-and-munin/ claims it's hoo-gin and moo-nin

p.s.
Hugin and Munin
Fly every day
Over all the world;
I worry for Hugin
That he might not return,
But I worry more for Munin.

i too worry for huggin that he may not return when they dive enemy too early

it's not huggin. it's huginn which is 1 of the 2 ravens of odin, Huginn and Muginn.

Which is pronounced along the lines of "Hoo"-gin and "Moo"-gin.

The Hoo being like the one an owl would say, and that same O sound for the Muginn. Not the more stressed "Moo" from a cow.
Much like kitty said.

*Muninn

And it's unequivocally a hard "oo" sound. One of my pet peeves is people calling it " Huggin' " because they think it's actually pronounced that way, instead of simply in jest. Norse!nerd here.

That makes sense all of a sudden. I feel silly having not remembered the names of his ravens (I think I didn't learn them before). If I can remember the West African Spider character, I should be able to remember that :). Also, yes, for a norse word the u is not ambiguous as in English, I think, so hoo-gin would be correct. Google translate's Norwegian voice pronounces it that way, too.

It a pun on words. the "HUG" comes from the hugging the mech does while killing something. Some might say hugwarping as a tactic.

Muninn should not be another Raven Hero but a 75t heavy who looks like a (oversized) Raven <.<

I pronounce it exactly as you do, "HUGH-gin", but even if that is not the correct pronounciation, I always going to call it by that, just as I pronounce "JagerMech" as 'Jagger-Mech' (have done since I was first reading BT (none of that recyclcled 'classic' B.S>).
It is just another of my little foibles and somewhat happy about that one (psych unit, here I come).
