I personally consider an EBJ more dangerous than a TBR, and tend to focus on them, if for no other reason than the TBR is the "meta king" and that means TBR pilots are generally (though not always) inferior to a good EBJ pilot. Plus, EBJs can mount dangerous amounts of ballistic firepower for their size. Add to that the fact that they don't have quite as much armor as a TBR, and you have a good target.

I consider EBJs the danger equivalent of IS Jagermechs. Of course the Jagers go poof after a single ST loss, while EBJs are not so easy to go down since I have to keep hitting the CT.

Damn!

I was gonna buy my second Executioner... Now the EBJ looks sweet... what to buy, what to buy? I want to master my Executioners, but allready have enough C-bills for an EBJ...

descisions, descisions...

EDIT:

Ok, a question to the people who have the EBJ and the Timerwolf..

If you have the Timberwolves mastered, do you REALLY NEED the EBJ? I mean, the Timby, Maddog and EBJ are all basically the same role, can fit the same playstyles, so.. do I really need one?

The Timby is still the best clan mech in the game, even with the negative quirks, and it has JJ's.. so does the EBJ really replace it in a CW dropdeck?

It replaced it for me. its lighter (i think 65 vs 75) so i can run 3 of em and a shadow hawk. The 10 ton diffrence doesnt seem like much but it definatly helps free up some weight if your trying to fit a assault mech (other wise 1/2 decent mechs 1 assault mech and now the cheetah but before you had to use the lynx which just isnt good enough in CW).

As for timber i agree its the best clan mech overall but its sorta overrated IMO because its the "best" in a more general sense (not really excelling at anything(decent brawler but overheats to fast and not really good with ballistics, LR is dominated by hellbringers and mad dogs, good at mid range/skirmishes) just doing good at everything). And honestly for the most part JJ are nice but rarely a gamechanger.

Basically if you wish your timber had better ballistics or like brawling in clan mechs then ebj is worth it. they play a bit between Timbers and dires IMO (lots of lasers/range, great balistics options and enough ammo to be useful, and able to mount LRMs or SRMs but rarely do.)

Timbers do laser/missile combos a bit easier than the Jaguar IMO. If you're happy with 2 missile hard points then the Jag Prime side torsos can work for you, but if you need the arm-mounted missiles then the arms lose energy hard points.

Right now my Timbers use a lot of SRM/Streaks with some lasers, while my Jaguars have a pure energy build, a dual UAC5 build, and the final one I switch up. Sometimes gauss, or PPC, or pulse lasers and some Streaks... whatever. The pure energy and dual UAC5 builds are pretty much where I want them, but the Prime I switch up to suit my mood.

No nerf for the Ebon Jaguar ??

Ok, I would probably buy it, but we see the big "rebalancing thing" next week, therefore I just wait another week...

Not that I spent 40 millions on it, and it get nerfed next week...

The same issue exists for the Ebon Jaguar - you can buy variants with CBills, but you cannot buy the Omni-pods for all variants.

*edit*...sorry missed Matt's post

I like how the Urbie seems to have been released as an afterthought.

Due to the General Discussion thread perhaps?

Is the Urbie actually worth buying for anything other than a novelty?

Not really. Not to say one cannot do well with it but it dies from fear more than anything else. Past that its fun to drive.

I'm pretty sure he meant Shadow Cat.

Anyway, does this mean we might actually see the Urbanmech available for c-bills in a few months?

Every time I tweeted to Russ asking about this he conveniently ignored my question.

Wait, wait Urbie got snuck in there?!

I may just have to buy duplicate versions.

I feel a little violated.

NEVER.

it cost now 600-800 MC, which is "for free"- enough.

I bet that on 20th October you'll write that you always wanted Urbanmechs released for free, and you are glad that they only cost 1.5-2 million C-Bills.
