That's weird , i thought any non hero mech was supposed to , eventually , be available just a couple of months after their packs where launched....... i hope they don't do the same to the marauder , warhawk or any other future pack.

Only hero mechs where supposed to be pay to play.

That's cause every urbie is a god damned Hero.

Why would you want that thing? It looks like R2D2 but it can't help pilot and repair an X-wing, or fire off cute holographic messages to its opponents.

Who needs to fire off cute messages to one's opponents, when AC/20 shells can be fired at them instead?

C'mon, Strike. You know what it took to get the UrbanMech in the game. It's clearly a special case; they're not going to stick a ton of cash-only 'Mechs in the game beyond Heroes. That said, it's kinda right and proper that the UrbanMech require a cash investment. It's unique in every other way, and as far from PEE TWO DUBBLEJOO as you can really get...so let it be. Heh, if you can't spare twenty bucks, can always hope to win it in a player giveaway.

Kind of ironic that the one mech only available through real money is, in lore, the cheapest POS mech imaginable...

Nope. I can all but guarantee they will be. Urbie, eventually will be, too, probably. But the Urbie exists purely because of the a handful of people pushing for it, then ponying up to get it made. While I got no issue if it does come out for CBills, one could make the argument that it's a special order job, and really, nothing says it has to or should be available.

People mocked it. People said we should not have it, that it would never happen. We made it happen. We paid directly to make it happen.

*shrugs*

Why should we share the fruits of our labor? What is this..... Communism? ;)

perception is in the eyes of the beholder. many would perceive such comments very harshly. it has nothing to do with thin skin.. some can't help their financial situation due to physical issues, geographical location, political/economical environment, etc. others fight tooth and nail just scrape by with their blood and sweat. when the financially "blessed" mock their situation, that ALWAYS gets under their skin. honestly, I can't blame them. i have seen one of the financially "blessed" be permanently banned from a game for doing just that. this is why i call it a dangerous line to cross.. it is a civilly actionable issue and most game developers won't tolerate it.

People who take an obvious joking comment and get butthurt over it, is what I refer to, not peoples financial state.

More of the world lives in Poverty than not. Mind, most of those folk have more serious issues to worry about than Urbanmechs in a Video Game, which is why most of those truly impoverished, the real poor, etc, are usually the ones who don't waste time getting offended over nothing.

You can try to make this into some sort of grand social commentary all you want, but that has about as much weight and reality as trying to take a serious message out of a Fast and Furious movie.

Need a serious message? Stealing cars is bad, M'kay?
Give it at least a year if you really want it for cbills, aside from New players wanting a cheap mech asap (stock urbie + new player, yet another reason to not make it cbills btw) there not to many people who would want it badly but not have 20 dollars to spend. Internet alone in most of the usa is at least 20 for the most basic I'd figure, with promotional costs for cable/higher then 1mb bandwidth upwards of 60-80 after taxes, fees, etc for anything with a reliable bandwidth (at least in my area, fiber line plz, frosty and his troop need gigz :3) I think we're around 120 for 50mb/secish. Stupid ISP oligopoly...
...
I was going somewhat with this.... stupid rants. Anyway, 20 bucks is a cheap game, our something halfway decent on steam. It really shouldn't be that bad, a week of buying drinks/coffee at a school+ work cafeteria (our one bar night) could afford half of that minimum. If you tally up all your misc purchases over the course of a month... . Well let's just say it adds up fast. Yes some people are worse off. I get that. They probably have better things to waste money on then a game tbh. Anyway, if our when it is available, for mc, cbills or both, it will likely be when the people in charge have decided it is not a main money maker anymore.
Just save up a dollar a day in a jar. In two thirds of a month, you can get the basic set. A month and a half and you can get the ce set. It does add up if you don't think about it, just do it in the morning or at night before bed.

Srsly

If you can't afford to throw $20 away on something awesome like an Urbanmechs package, practice a smidgen of self control and save your nickels and dimes for a month - then reap the rewards of the 360 torso rotation.

Really... It's $20... That isn't even enough to get a pizza delivered from Round Table. That is like 3 cases of soda. There are literally a hundred things you could do in your daily routine to come up with Mr Jackson.

PGI created the Urbie for this game for the sole purpose of having us pay cash money for them - because that is what we asked for. PGI brought out the Maurauder because we said we would throw money at them - they risked (skirted) legal litigation because they know we will gladly stuff their wallet. The depth of our wallets has been proven with a 30 ton trash can.

The Urbanmechs will rise, and the planets will fall to our auto-cannons and the lethal pew of our laser beams.

I got the urbie just for the premium time and the cockpit items. The rest is just cute but still sub par IS mechs.

Really - the $20 for the urbie base pack is less than 3hr work at McDs and includes 1 month premium time and other swag

that's a complicated ethical question

when you see in a movie how rambo steals a soviet vehicle in afghanistan it is not perceived as bad (at least by americans)
