With the current balance changes being proposed for all mechs regarding Information Warfare I am hoping that PGI could comb their match data for some win/loss percentages. Specially regarding win/loss percentages and what role a light mechs were playing on both the winning and loosing sides. The purpose of this data would be to draw a conclusion as to whether a "scout" light mech or a "damage" light mech is more likely to aid the team in achieving a victory.
Of light mechs participating AND achieving a match score of 150 or above, determine which had over 200 damage, and which had under 200 damage. This would seperate good "scout" pilots from good "damage" pilots, without being muddled by pilots that attempted but failed to achieve either role.
wins/loss for 3+ scouts and 0 damage = x%
wins/loss for 2 scouts and 1 damage = x%
wins/loss for 1 scouts and 2 damage = x%
wins/loss for 0 scouts and 3+ damage = x%
Seperate values for both the solo and group drops would be advisable since groups are more likely to have role specific mechs than the solo players.
My gut tells me that the win % will increase more with qualifing "damage" types then "scout" types. But, I hope PGI is able and willing to consider this data project even if it disproves my hypothesis.

Yes, "scouting" as the game registers right now is just a sad excuse. You only can get them once, unless under ECM, then you're simply out of luck... or suicidal.
Lights serve no role besides being a highly mobile weapons platform, or getting half the enemy team to lose their wits and chase the light across the map. Only for one of those options you get matchscore, though.

Like we need to give anybody a reason to hide the fact that they are running away from the enemy to look for easy kills in the spawn

Its just one way to earn points as a scout. You are still expected to do damage/narc/tag. Be distracting, flank and all that jazz.

Just going to go out on a wild guess and say currently the only way a light mech helps win is by being a damage mech first. The maps are still too small or channeled (Forest Colony/CW) for any scouting that couldn't and isn't already done by every other weight class.

I had not considered the squirrel/rabbit role when I wrote the request. You are correct that that pilot would probably have a very low match score but could potentially help their team achieve a win. I have occasionally thrown flamers back on my FS9-A for just that role.
I still would like to see that win/loss data if PGI is willing to pull it.
