Feel free to post your frustration with the RNG (random number generator) fials you have been dealing with in this challenge. Maybe PGi will read this, not there aren't dozens of posts already, and think smarter next time. Please feel free to include some form self punishment image.

For myself;

Played 12 rounds last night. My first map was Caustic Valley and I got my 300 score (300 is about the best I can hope for). I counted...and literally 7 of the next 11 maps I played that night were CAUSTIC VALLEY. Logged in today and my first Map was Caustic Valley!

I still need 4 maps out of the rotation as of this post. I've done about 10 rounds, and dropped on ONE of them.....and FAILED.

Yea, the random map rotation makes this an exercise in luck and time. I was short on both it seems, haha. I had two maps just under the min score, and I simply never saw canyon network. I played for a few hours Friday and Saturday, 7 total or so, unsure how many matches. Luckily I was going to be playing anyways, completing the tourney would have been a bonus.

Ps- in reply to FupDup's post, guess I should have prayed more at the alter of rng beforehand, knew I forgot something!

As if there wasn't enough luck involved in these challenges already.

7 hours to get tourmaline, after i got my points it suddenly became a regular map. Forest Colony was a rare sight. 4 times in 11 hours(all in last 5).
But you feel better after all this is done and you play for fun again, not caring about the map.

See this easy fix that PGI could implement:

http://mwomercs.com/...-fix-for-event/

Would instantly remove a lot of frustration. It's even possible to qualify without ever seeing a specific map.

OK...this is ridiculous.

I finally start to drop on a couple of maps I actually NEED to finish this challenge..and my team mates start to DC every map. One was stupid enough to actually tell us he was DCing and leaving.

WORST EVENT EVER PGI....STUPID STUPID STUPID

I'm a pretty patient guy and this stupid (did I mention I think it's STUPID?) event is fraying my nerves.

I have over 5000 points, have not qualified for either tier. HPG all I need is HPG.

I've had a good sleep now, feeling better.

But this RNG challenge really stinks, it's (deliberately/poorly?) designed in such a way as to increase the level of frustration as you go.

At the beginning you need all the maps, so your first drop is a sure thing to get a map you need, or 100%. As you progress, you need fewer and fewer maps but still draw upon the same maps.

This is called a Probability Problem WITH replacement. Each map has about an 11% chance of being rolled by the RNG, so your chances of getting a map shrink steadily the further you progress in the challenge.

100%
89%
78%
67%
56%
45%
34%
23%
11%

I can't do the math, maybe someone else can, but the average number of matches you would have to play to land each map must be in the hundreds. Keep in mind that that is IF you get the necessary score every time you play a map too.

So I've come to the conclusion that they are simply trying to drive the number of matches played up as high as possible. For what reason, I'm not sure. It's either this or someone at PGI really didn't think this through, and we know their record when it comes to thinking things through.

If you want the math ...

http://mwomercs.com/...to-complete-it/

The problem is that RANDOM really does mean random. The random number generator isn't failing (unless PGI coded a bug somewhere) ... but what it means is that ON AVERAGE .. to get just 2 drops on each of 9 maps will take something like 52 matches (I was thinking it was 63 but it is more like collecting two sets of 9 rather than 18 separately).

So 50 matches to see each map twice. If you fail to get a score then it will take more. Sometimes much more since the map selection is inherently random and 50 would be the average.
