True. I put it on my fast lights and its fun, but not that necessary. Especially when you get more bang for your buck with Seismic and Radar Dep. And those are the two I recommend to the OP.

Hill Climb can actually hurt you too - if you are brawling in circles on uneven terrain, your speed will vary uphill and downhill, making you harder to target. But with Hill Climb, your speed is more constant, so its easier for Red Team to predict where to shoot.

1) get Radar Dep first to save you from the LRM hell of the new player tiers.

2) then grab Seismic to avoid turning corners blind into 6 red team mechs.

Really wish PGI would buff up some of the mech modules. Most aren't worth dropping Seismic and Radar Dep for.

I agree on the disparity in power of modules. I think module slot numbers are a potential balance tool going forward based on last PTS as well. So this just means more modules will go unused on the good mechs, and the worse variants will be able to pad the extra slot with a niche module

I get what you are saying.. But like i said, i have really changed my thinking after using hill climb all summer. There are so many spots on maps, that you can't run, and are really key spots to either get away, or come out at an angle the team doesn't think you will.. For example, caustic.. everyone comes through those little valleys, and they do it if they don't have JJ's cause it is the only way to go. But with Hill Climb, you have many more options. Other maps like alpine, or Terra, that have you can get outta lava flows, or catch a fleeing mech running up a hill. Though the best map for the module is canyon.. So many times have i chased a Jump jet mech up and over a wall, they thinking they lost me, and i destory um on the other side, as they jump up, slow, and hit the ground and stutter,, and i'm in a death's kneel, and rip up the wall, and blast away with out loosing a step.

Not to mention, there are lots of mechs that actually have 3 mech slots,,, So if you wan't you can have radar dep, sesimic and hill climb.. But honestly on fast mechs these days, i drop radar dep, and load up targeting info instead. it just works better for me..

For me, commando's, ravens, Cicadas, HBK's, centurions, and dragons are prime mechs for hill climb.. And like ya said, when you get past the lower tiers, LRM's are not as prevalent, so i'd rather get up a hill and around the corner quicker, as i am not worried about LRM's hitting me on the back side where there is cover.. I want to get there before i get pegged by a gauss or something else. If you have any of these mechs, trust me and grab a hill climb module, and go play around in test for a few hours.. It could change your thinking :)

that said, on slower mechs, Radar dep and seismic are typically the way i go, heavies and assaults are almost always that set up.. Faster mechs, it is very much dependent on what i am running, and how many slots they have.

Oh I have, and was very stubborn about it because having Hill Climb was so much fun. I play lights because I like to go fast (150) and being able to scoot over hills kept me alive longer. But I finally had to admit to myself that it just didn't come into play often enough to justify ditching Radar Dep or Seismic. Its my 3rd choice and I only have two slots. YMMV of course.
