Here's the build, what do you guys think?

TBR-C Gauss, ER PPC, 3x Med Pulse

The idea is to alpha this mech only on occasion. Most of the time you'd either use Gauss with ERPPC or Gauss with the 3x Med Pulse, in which case it is pretty heat efficient.

The reason I built this is that the current Gauss - ER ML builds tend to have too much "stare and wait" time during which you have to expose yourself to enemy fire. I wanted something that I can use for quick snipes.

One could go for the classic Gauss, 2x ER PPC, but it's hard to nail people on the same component with all three weapons unless they are standing still.

This build gives you the ability to put 54 points of damage on a single component if the opportunity presents itself, and put out reasonable amounts of single component shattering firepower on moving targets without too much exposure.

I used to run a Gauss, ER PPC 4x ER ML Timby last year, and got good results, but that build is no longer viable with the current changes:

Biggest problem with ERPPC is that

1. it's one of the most heat inefficient weapons in the game, especially considering how many heatsinks you're also giving up vs an ERML
2. its velocity makes it less accurate at long distances
3. it's all-or-nothing vs an ERML which you can adjust if your aim is off at the beginning of the burn.
4. to mitigate the effects of return fire for ERMLs, you can always twist away before the end of your burn is done (however typically in my Timby I'm out-trading the enemy so I don't need to do that too often)

Also the ERPPC is 10 damage to a single component plus 5 splash, so you're getting max 49 damage to a single component at 360m (cMPL+Range module 5). But that will also assume the enemy is nearly standing still because against a moving target it's difficult to sync the hits of all 3 weapons together with the ERPPC and Gauss having different velocities, Gauss having a charge time, and MPLs actually hitting instantly.

Each person has their own playstyles I think, but for me, the traditional ERML+Gauss builds are more suitable.

I'd personally go with a different build. That build has a very low alpha.

This Build has a MUCH higher alpha of 52. You also don't have to switch between projectile speeds like your build. You can just keep your crosshair on your opponent.

If you down grade one ERLL to 2 ERMLs you have tonnage for CAP or more LRM or Gauss ammo. I do like that build.

The problem with ERMLs is that they don't have the same range as C-Gauss or LRMs

I have run something very similar in the past and it worked really well.
