I had a match on Sulfurous Rift with a match score of 422 and the two checkboxes (https://mwomercs.com/tournaments) for this map were green.
Then i had a match with a 1172 match score and the two checkboxes are red now and the "Total Best Match Score" count does not inculde the Sulfurous Rift score.

At least you can get those scores, alot of us can't get out of the double digits, let alone 300 in a public match on EVERY map listed, this event is pretty broken when you take into account how many people are going to be left out of the spoils because they run more support type roles.
Needless to say this event has me furious, because my play style isn't going to make a score higher than 200 in a public match and even then that's still assuming someone else doesn't get a 500+ score.
I don't even know how score is calculated, it is fairly random and it doesn't really seem to matter how much damage you do unless you have kills, or how many kills you have if you have very little damage.
The event right now is broken for new and even veteran players, but that's just my opinion, as score has been a stat that nobody has cared about until this event, it has never been explained (to my knowledge) how it is determined, and on top of all of this the scores required are ridiculously high for certain play styles.
