BL-6B-KNT (Mechwarrior 4: Mercs Solaris VII 'Hero' Black Knight stock+)
BL-6-KNT (stock+)
BL-7-KNT-L (Inspired from stock?)
The 4 builds I brainstormed at work. Will hope to use them soon when I come home...
Also this things alpha scares me... It's heat quirks roughly puts it same heat efficiency as Timberwolf, is more durable due to Standard engine... and higher alpha that is enough to rip most heavy mechs side torsoes off in 1 alpha... BL-7-KNT (The Timberwolf Destroyer)
Whoa. 25% is way hotter than I normally run my mechs (I try to get above 30% at least), but that's a nasty mech right thar.

I suppose this will do for now; http://mwo.smurfy-ne...335fdee709e5c3a its a play off the standard build but with max engine, dhs, max armor and er as opposed to standard ppc/ large lasers and a pair of mpl becuase I ran out of slots... I wish there was room for 2 extra dhs but what can you do

You're dead no matter what - may as well get to the fight in the first place =P
NOW TO COMPETE WITH THE DIRESTAR!
No, YOU'RE doing it wrong. You've got 14 slots open. Add Endo-Steel and you can mount up to an XL295. Or run a 255 and put a bit of armour on...or keep the XL235 and put a bit more armour on...but really, XL295.
It is the BLACK STAR!

Smurfy doesn't do quirks. For eg the 6B has a 10% energy heat reduction (20% total if you + the ER PPC energy heat reduction for that weapon), so all though smurfy says 29% heat, it is 33% when elites and basics have been gotten and it is 41% with Elites/ basics/ quirks and 35% without.
What about the other guys? no heat quirks right? well the thing is there is very mixed range, PPC, Large lasers, Medium lasers, approximately the 3 main weapons, when you snipe at 700 meters with PPC's you will NOT fire your medium lasers and vice versa you will not use PPC's up close when you got that many damage to heat effecient (for energy weapon) medium lasers instead of the very hot PPC that doesn't do well up close and have a min range.
For eg my BLK-6-KNT has 26% heat effeciency assuming I non stop alpha strike. (I will not bother using the skills for elites/ bsaic for this math, this will be all non-skilled here), however if we do not fire the small or medium lasers it will be 48% heat effeciency- I can non stop fire my twin large lasers + PPC for 19 seconds, when people up close? Medium+ Small = 56% heat effeciency, 30 seconds non stop fire of those weapons... however I can squeeze the large lasers in as well for the extra damage. aka everything besides PPC, 33% heat effeciency.
With these 2 examples I hope I taught you something about mixed range builds with heat as well as how quirks can make smurfy be deceiving.

I'm thinking the BK might be a good SPL vehicle. Put one or two "pokers" on it, then make the rest SPLs? Something like this:
BL-6-KNT
Second game out: 4 kills, 642 damage...yeah, I'm liking this build.

I run that exact same build, except with a XL350 and one less ML.
Can confirm, it's a pretty nasty mech if you get an oppertunity to pop in and out of a corner alpha first, then corner peak with the 3x LPL.
People don't seem to stick around very long, and the obnoxious CT becomes a benefit with the XL350, as a shot that would hit the ST on a lot of other mechs in a side poke scenario, will hit the BK's CT.
I'm using XL's on all of mine now because of this fact, and it's ability to twist mid-damage and share across all upper components with relative ability.

NVM, that is clan... either way the fusion engines should make it more interesting. Especially the new PPC's and lasers. If snub nose PPC's are 2/6 like Clan ERPPC this will be good on these builds. it's extra tonnage.
I like the 3 LPL and MPL combos though.
Edit: I came up with something. I call it, "Too Hot to Trot!" Just remember to tank properly to mitigate damage from getting to the XL engine.
