I can not say why this is happening, but I tried it out with the Hunchback and Catapult variant that were available.

Neither got the "alpha strike kill" completion when alpha striking an enemy in the head or torso and killing them.

This was on the Fireing range (d) where you get additional mechs with module damage.

Alpha Strike Kill only affects cherry CT targets, as far as I could tell.

Same here. Tried to "alphastrike" about 20 targets before got check at "Alpha Strike Kill".
No matter is their CT cherry or not.

Fired at CT only.

BTW: Unable to complete this by firing all your weapons in one group and pressing "Fire" button. Only "'\" is allowed.

I was unable to get a check for alpha strike even by hitting the CT.

It only counts if you use the alpha strike button ;-)

Funny thing is, in MWO everyone is constantly alpha striking, but no one is using the alpha strike button :-)

You do have to use the alpha strike button... but there also seems to be a problem registering the kill.

It doesn't register despite using the alpha strike button. Does it matter I have rebound it fromfrom the default?

Yes. The button has to be set to the same as default for the tutorial to work. In the case of some bits, even setting the button back to the default button didn't do it. I had to use the button that resets EVERYTHING to defaults to get the keys recognized. :P

My Alphastrike was bound in the menu to "\" however i had to use the "#" "~" key next to backspace to actually use aphastrike since "\" didnt fire a weapon.

I dod not rebind any keys just that one was the one it was mapped to by default. Worked first time too
