Well i was just throwing a idea around. All open for discussion! Not bad, but after 5 minutes shouldnt be a unlocked disco?

I like your last part. Good stuff, like a spawn protection.

I don't think it should ever be "unlocked" but after say 5 minutes, it's just Dead. I really hate score wankers out there dissecting discos instead of helping their team, and getting rewarded for it.

I like to piss these people off when I come across it by laying a massive alpha into the discos cockpit to steal their epeen from them.

I wonder if a small and fast dropship could be used to swoop in and pickup these mechs during a match? And if a player is reconnecting and succeeds gets dropped on a random spawn for their side? And if he disconnects again, away into the sunset!

Would at least look a whole lot better than simply locking them from damage, and allows for the creation of another dropship asset!

I like it. MAybe we get an automated Betty Message.... "Charlie 1 has had a critical failure, Repeat, Charlie 1 out and awaiting emergency pickup......."

If a player has been disconnected for a while, it would be REALLY nice to have the chance to take over their 'Mech if you're dead.

However, if they reconnected, you would need to boot them out.

Cool idea!

(We'll never see it though)

Good for you.

But look at it from a realistic point: nobody is going to do that. The overall team mentality is already bad in this game.

And bad is a huge understatement.

I disagree. In my experiences its not.

Group que is fine, taking the lead on pugs: okay-ish i guess. You can make it work.

Solo que? Land of the forgotten ones? Good luck with 12 random people.

My unit has been on much later than I can be so it's been solo pug since I never see anything in LFG. Saying the level of teamwork is horrendous would be an understatement.

Been looking on sarna, I wonder if something like a modified Planetlifter with Lift Hoists could do the trick. Does a rapid fly in, latches on and then flies off with its VSTOL to hover for as long as it takes the Lift Hoists to grab on to the mech.

Otherwise it seems that Leopards would be the go to Dropship.

Also read about the Avengers, imagine those in CW accompanying Leopards (and giving them their full weapon complement)!

Clans could also make use of Broadswords and Confederates!

If your mech is not taken out by a head shot, only they can play the rock-paper-scissors, and whoever wins, get to take the mech over and finish the stupid match!

That's not necessarily true, if nothing else you could at least suicide into some mechs and help your already dead mech to get a few kill assists or something, which is better than the disconnected mech doing absolutely nothing.

I guess that doesn't really help if you instantly died in the mech you dropped in, but in that case somebody else could just take your place instead.

I noticed the yellow arrowhead icon last night as well, someone had a 13000 (yes that is the right number of zeroes) ping and then got disconnected, and their mech turned yellow on the minimap. Someone in chat speculated it might be related to the new tutorial, as mechs without pilots show up there in yellow as well.

Eh, I just want Disco's to be "locked" and considered dead. Impervious to damage, not counted for or against the match. Since PGIs client is so bloody unstable for some people, it's frustrating to have the bloody client crash, finally get logged back in to find some ****** in a Firestarter has been buffing their score on your mech.

If a player discos
-His Mech should be "damage locked", so it can't be hurt or killed
-If the pilot reconnects within a couple minutes, he is free to go, good as new.
-If Mech is still disco at end of match, it's simply considered an unawarded kill, affecting the W/L as a Kill, but not padding anyones Epeen

I could see this system being abused. Bad spawn on Caustic in an assault? Just disconnect for three minutes, then surprise, King Crab to the back!

I'm pretty sure this is a HUD bug.

This may as well coincide with the new tutorial release ultimately being the culprit.

Drunk idea, to me; if you could make the "rock paper scissors" thing be more, ah, immersive...like if we got ejected from our 'Mechs and you had a chance to run to the disconnected 'Mech and jump and pilot it...that, that I would absolutely get behind.

But a cartoon rock paper scissors game? Nothanksbro

Mech takeover sounds like a lot of work for a not-too-valuable feature. It would probably be easier for them to give it AI once PvE is launched.

"I want to wave to other pilots from my cockpit." Isnt that the very same thing?

Albeit it might my idea sounds drunk and stupid a rock paper scissors game just though i might give it a go and see where i end up.

Some games even have mini games while you wait.

So i got in a match this morning when a friend of mine disconnected.

His client crashed.

The next thing i noticed his name dissappeared. And the team arrow turned yellow! (Not sure if this was already in-game never got my attention, but the yellow arrow seems to be new. Therefor always blue and 'live'.)
- Unfortunately i couldnt grab a screenshot of the scoreboard if his name dissappeared as well, but could this be a new feature which we can expect soon?

Yeah, i don't think so!

Would be great, taking over a disconnected and then get your own screen display name on it. Sounds lovely, no?

Perhaps we need to make a rock-paper-scisscor game when people are dead.

40% rewards for the on-screen display or the one taking it over. 25% for the disconnected and 35% for the rest of the team.

Just to name a example of a split. Got better idea's regarding splitting rewards? Hear ya out.

Here's a visual image (the only thing perhaps missing out is a timer)Posted Image

Fire away. Or did i just sound like a drunk man?

Discuss!

sounded a lil drunk, but great idea if the DC isn't being hammered when you jump in.

it's being abused the other way around now. Everything can be abused, I feel that would be less the issue than the current farming, etc.

Having a limited window to log back in would help some, but the longer a person waits, the worse odds he is likely to be dropping against.
