I am a bit confused why people voted in the tier visibility poll for "on a free to choose basis".
I mean, they dont asked to make your whole stats official. When i take WOT for example,
i find it helpfull to see inside a match on the team/name list (in mwo it woud be TAB)
which player has which tier.allies like foe´s.
Woud be a shame when that feature woud be excluded now.
Maybie i just got it wrong but to me that "Team Tier overview" came first in mind
when i saw the poll.
What purpose tiers have at all when they dont be visible by other players,
at least in a match, what makes the most sense imo.

The purpose of the tiers is for the matchmaker to build teams with comparable skillratings so the match will be, at least theoretically, a fair one (or as close as possible).
There is really no NEED for anyone other than the matchmaker to know those tiers but of course we are all curious and want to know where we and others stand. Comparing pointless e-peens is, afterall, a long standing tradition in online-gaming.

The poll was simply about displaying those tiers on the forums and how that should be handled.

So in your oppionion it isnt important in World of Tanks wich tiers the players in your team AND the enemy team have?
You woud know what Tier/Skill the friendly mech beside you have, making then a decission if it makes sense to go with him
alone to flank the enemy.
Or what Tier/Skill the enemy infront of you have , helping you to decide if you retreat or go all in.
Maybie from a gameplay viewpoint you only shoud see your team members TIER´s, but again
in WOT it helps me alot seeing tiers from friends and foe´s.
Maybie think about it again....

Knowing player stats in game in WOT was one of the most poisonous aspects of playing WOT. It brought out the worst in the player base and we have enough people blaming their teams when the lose. We do not need to add the "we lost because you are a scrub tier" aspect into the game.

First of all: WoT is terrible. I like Warthunder better. That is my opinion on that.

Second: Of course it's important wich tiers the players in your and the enemy's team have. For a fair and hopefully fun match they should be as close as possible. It is NOT important for you to have that information, though.

Knowing that is of no use to you, it actually might be detrimental to your efficiency.
If you see that your whole team is made up of "good" players you might slack off and not contribute as much as you could.
If you see your team is mostly made up of "scrubs" you might throw in the towel right from the get-go and not even try to win although you could.
If you see the enemy has players ranked higher than you you might hesitate/be fearful or go the other way and be overly aggressive for no good reason.
It's basically psychological warfare that you wage on yourself.

Always play as good as you can, help your teammates and try to organize the team as much as possible.

I admit that it sometimes would be interesting to see the rankings of all the people in a match but it still is a bad idea.
Maybe show the tiers in the end-of-round screen ? That might be fun and won't influence the match.

what you take as a fact in matters of important or not are psychological effects that coud possibly be true but
that varies from person to person i think. For your part it might be true that you react in the manner you mentioned above.
Another person will not and taking the information of the tiers from it´s team mates more to his advantage
i.e. acting appropriate in thermes of how to engage the enemy or even take a more defensive position, cause
i woudnt charge with a 3 tier 4ers a bunch of tier 1´s.
And before you say that can´t happen, think again , cause how will you know that it´s not ;)

Because people are looking at it as an ePeen extension and some of us simply don't want to get involved in that rubbish. That's not what it's actually for.

It's used by the matchmaker the same way as ELO used to be, to balance teams against each other.
