Hi; greetings; how's it going?

You know how when I start the MWO launcher to get into the game? You know how it has all of the recent news and promotions listed on the launcher and how I don't have to hide it/shoo it out of the way in order to get on with actually playing the game?

You know how you just decided to put that same exact news and promotions in-your-face crap on the screen once I finally get into the game? You know how you force me to hide it/shoo it out of the way now in order to get that much closer to actually getting into the game when I've already seen the news and promotions on the launcher, ignored it, pressed play, skipped the cutscenes, input my password, pressed enter, and waited for the main menu to load?

It bloooooows...

Please give me/the players the option to COMPLETELY disable it, much like you have given me/the players the option to hide our tier rating on that same screen.

Seriously, who thought that was a cool idea? Here, let's make them have to go through one more barrier in our clunky, niche product just so they can blow some mechs up... JUST ONE MORE!!! It won't bother them at all to be made sure that they've seen our promotions...

NO!

PLEASE, GOD, NO!

... Thank you for your time and considerations. :)

I actually like it, but I think it should only pop-up once per announcement, and for the first time after each patch with a TLDR summary of that patches changes.

Could we get the option to remove all the extra crap? Most of it is pretty useless information anyway. Or at the very least make it more transparent, I don't go through all the time to paint my mechs just to have ads covering them up. Didn't we already pay you enough to not have extra ads in the game?

I'd like for people to actually read the patch notes. As for the launcher, nobody really reads the messages and just launches straight into the game

1. Because we shouldn't have to read the patch notes for the game to be playable and consistent, this out of over 50 games I own and play is the only game I have to read patch notes to BE ABLE TO PLAY consistently.
2. They are presented in such a lame and boring way, with 0 transparency.
3. 90% of the patch notes for this game are lies they made up to make the patch look the right size, most if not all the "features" they present don't even work on patch day anyway.
4. Why should I have to read the patch notes anyway? Why do they find the need to change the game so drastically that it is so vital every other Tuesday, that I am required to read the patch notes? This doesn't seem right to me.

1. It's a still-in-developement MMO, technically in alpha stage.
2. Agree on that, sometimes you have to guess what they actually want to tell you. A lot of player confusion about vital game mechanics stems from this.
3. The first part is nonsense, the second is a tradition by now.
4. It's a still-in-developement MMO, technically in alpha stage.

Edit: not an MMO, silly me.

Still in development my ass, I played in the open alpha like 3 years ago, and the open beta that ended last year in August. But hey if you want to believe that they are new to this whole video game thing and want to think that PGI can do no wrong fine, stfu and go away. There is no MMO to this game anyway, pretty sure MMO stands for massively multiplayer online, which it is in no way. If you can explain how 12 player teams is massively multiplayer let me know because I am pretty sure the word massively means something different than what you and PGI think it does. ATo sum up this not an alpha game and it is in no way a MMO, so please explain to me why you think it is both still in alpha and a MMO.

I agree; it's redundant and spammy. It's the same info presented in the launcher only in the form of pop-up advertising.

Hint: Nobody likes pop-up ads

So after thinking about it, my guess is that the launcher will get 86'd when the game goes to Steam & that's why they added an in-game news popup.

Simple fix: screw the window, make it a clickable ticker. This way they still get their ads in, you see updates, and you only use your time on the ones you want something in-depth about. Could open a window in-game or browser tab, whichever is appropriate. Even better, link it to your faction for Community Warfare updates. Example headlines on the ticker:

"Patch notes for Version X: Would you like to know more?" (Clicking this would bring it up in browser)

"Your faction's assault on (Planet Name) requires 2 more MechWarriors." (Clicking this would queue you on that world)

"Bullock to Harmony Gold: [NSFW]"

"You know you want this MARAUDER PACK" (Store page link)

"Especially because 3 more worlds ceded to Clan Jade Falcon." (Link to faction map)

+1 on the ability to disable that. Besides being redundant, it's annoying and adds extra time to an already slow startup process.

High possibility of this indeed.
Still, should be able to remove it if I want to.

Honestly, it doesn't both me. Just 1 click and it's gone. Not needed (since the launcher does this anyways) but I suppose having the option to remove it wouldn't be that bad.

I don't mind it as long as it can be minimized by default. I'll leave the game running even when I'm not playing because I want it to be ready to go for a quick drop or two. For this reason, many times I find there are news, sales, etc that I miss or am late to hear about because I don't start my launcher for the whole day.

I think a good compromise is to have the news-feed minimized by default and not spam you right after you've already read the news in the launcher.

Forced down triple now. I have always looked for the update info etc. on the website before playing.

I'm sure there are some who say they never hear anything about events or updates to the game.

Useless information overload is prominent in so many places. Easy to publish conflicting info when it goes 99 places.

Please just do it well and do it ONCE and in ONE place.

Thank You.

PS: Most of those announcements are not ads, but event notifications. (Though some of them are ads.)

Personally, I think it's not bad, seen as with a simple click I can minimize it, and not bother with it again for that duration of my game play. (Now, if it popped up after every match, then I'd probably get a little upset.)

Would actually be nice to be able to disable it from ever popping up by default.

Or make it a window like the pilot information that you can just ignore in the bottom-right of the home screen instead of forcing us to click on in to get to the game.

The info is there, you see it at a glance, you can click it if you want to know more, you don't have to click it if you don't care or already know.
