Yeah, I should be tier 3. I'm nowhere near the 2500 matches it's said to jump to 1. I typically don't run meta builds, and enjoy running "sub par" mechs. Last 6 months have been mostly grinding my chaff mechs up to master. When I actually do play group, it's usually with some super casual/new players, so stomps abound. Both my K/D and W/L have taken a dive because of that.

Thus far I've been exclusively a solo player, playing in the standard solo queue. I've played a handful of CW matches, definitely less than 20 (is there somewhere I can find this out?)

Tier 2 was a big surprise when I got back from holiday on Friday. I have my share of decent matches, but I've played with/against *good* players, spectated some of them occasionally and I know that's not me. Having read Paul's description of how PSR works from yesterday, I'm now a little less surprised -- seemingly if you play enough, and (generally) trundle around with your team trying to shoot stuff, you'll eventually progress up the tier ranks.

6th highest WLR so far (tier 1), but the KDR is definitely top tier 2 material. Your # matches played is consistent with higher tier 2/low tier 1. Your problem is you win too damn much! =]

Just for reference, (based on 167 sample size) you are in the top 18% of KDR, and top 9% of WLR. You're also in the top 8% of games played. You're among the 11% that are max Tier 1.

If you're interested, something you can do is install the MadStats browser plugin and it will automatically remove all your duplicate mechs (like the champion (C), loyalty (L) and prime (I) variants) , you can then just copy paste your mech stats page into any spreadsheet and tally up the columns.

But I play lights mostly so I have a lot of matches where I am become death destroyer of mechs and a roughly equal number where I either WTF Explode or by focusing on scouting, data gathering, or capping I do little to no damage.

But I've only played 2.5k matches since the stat reset soI'm not sure if the system has been able to quantify me yet.

I know, right? I'm as surprised as anybody.

I think my global stats are dragged down by play before the period they were tracking stats for PSR for. More recently, I've been driving a quad UAC10 DWF-B and having a lot of success with it. I suspect my tier rating is a reflection of that recent success.

What time period do those global stats cover? I've been playing a fairly long time (since '12), with many breaks in between stretches of play.

EDIT: Ah, here we go. Clan mechs only, a decent proxy for my most recent span of MWO play. This would cover play from late 2014 to present, if I recall correctly.

Hm. My DWF-B stats are kinda pedestrian, actually. Yeah, I got nothin'. PSR tier is bunk.

I'mma answer the optionals, since I'm already on the list:

• Rough percentage of tier progress: 2%
  
• 60-40 split between solo and group drops, solo-biased. CW play is negligible.
  
• Do I deserve my tier? I think so. I think my progress bar is lower than it ought to be, but I also know and accept the why.

Thanks for sharing, mate. Yeah, this is weird. I really can't explain why you've climbed up to tier 2 so fast. You haven't played tons of games, you don't have lots of 400+ average damage mechs, your overall KDR and one of your most played mechs are both still trying to climb out of the red... it's just odd.

Kinda suprised by some of the high w/l ratios by people playing mostly solo. I already gave my stats (3.16 kdr , 1.31 w/l), but while averaging above 500 damage and 2 kills per match i never managed to get my w/l above 1.34 in the crazyness that is the solo queue.
Maybe it's because literally never play with big groups in groupqueue and win constantly. Or it's just bad luck. Or i suck. I'll probably never find out.

You don't need a big group to win most of your matches in the group queue. A group of 4-6 really good players will win the majority of their matches. At least that's how it used to work with Lords.

I'd say as of the past 2-3 months I play 60-70% group and the rest is solo, before that it was the other way around I'd say. I haven't touched CW since Tukayyid
