Thanks for the thread Paul. For those who don't know, the MechWarrior Wiki is dedicated to the entire MechWarrior series of PC games, but as the newest game, MWO will be the main focus.

I am never good at writing Wiki articles and have issues with wikipedia in itself when i tried to update a page that was horribly wrong information... but you should make sure to add a Mechwarrior Living Legends section as it is semi official as they have the go ahead from microsoft and they have a very active fanbase. A lot of players just do not consider it due to the Beta tag still attached as they are still working on it and the fact it has no mechlab currently. But it is very much a now a days staple for a lot of mechwarriors.

It is noble that someone did this, but this is already covered in the Battletech wiki at http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Main_Page. It is truly a good website for all mechwarrior and battletech fans.

Sorry to burst your bubble. Just save yourself some time and add the info you have there to the link above.

Why some people feel like they need to disparage other people's work is beyond me. Since this came up in another thread, I can simply paste why Sarna isn't an appropriate place to make a video game wiki.

Geez, the guy spends his time working something to help the community, and instead of a thanks he's told it's a waste of time. Pretty cold. I think it's a great idea to have a separate wiki for the games. Sarna is a great place to find information on BattleTech and the table top rules, but it's always been a place to find canon information. The admins of Sarna themselves moved all of the non-canon fan fiction and fan art to a separate wiki entirely. That aside, you simply can't have two wikis on the same site. It screws up both of them. For example, if you type in the searchbar "hunchback" to learn more about that beast, one of three things happen:
1. You're taken to the current Hunchback article which is already huge and has nothing to do with MWO.
2. You can create a disambiguation for everything that Battletech and MWO has in common which slows down both sites.
3. You add a tiny link at the top of the Hunchback articl that directs you to the MWO version. People would end up getting lost in the Sarna article and makes the mwowiki take a back seat to Sarna's.
None of those are efficient ways of finding information you want quickly. Hence a separate wiki.

We encourage the community to build fun and informative sites and allow us to share them with everyone else. Peltarius is no different and we truly appreciate his hard work.

Cheers!

It’s still and will be great to have, not everyone knows about sarna (I didn't tell reading this) ...more people know about wiki. Dedicated fans will attempt to put accurate and detailed information. Battle Tech and Mech Warrior both have good history that everyone will want to feel they put something into and not just screw up for trolling. At least we hope.

MechWarrior Online
MechWarrior Tactical Command
MechWarrior Tactics
MechWarrior Living Legend
Solaris AssaultTech
Plus all the old MechWarrior games

I can barely keep up with MWO, so hats off to you if you can keep up with all of that!

I would love to see a Wiki that shares data with the game itself, not sure if that is possible legally but it sure would be effecient to have access to a library of information in the game. Plus the Wiki showing all sorts of information like player profiles, scoreboards and automatically creating a dynamic timeline from events in the game. Even none developer created events like massive activity.

I keep dreaming and wishing and thinking too much ;)

I know this may not belong here. But to all new players. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BIG SCREEN. This game is a b^$# on 19" and smaller.
