Why do purchases made through Xsolla cost 40% more in Canadian Dollars? The Canada /US exchange rate is currently one Canadian Dollar = 0.75 cents US, Xsolla charging an extra 5% which is most likely an exchange fee. If there are extra charges such as an exchange fee Xsolla should indicate that in the pricing upfront.
  • Marauder Standard Pack $28 Canadian
  • Marauder Collectors Pack $56 Canadian
As noted the math was off and the post has been corrected.

i think you can change the currency when you pay with xsolla and pay in american dollars if you think that your bank has a better exchange rate

yeah, it's called the exchange rate, nopony exchanges you currency for free

Yes I expect as much but I would still like to see that in the pricing and the bank dose charge less for the exchange.

well it's not pgi's fee, it's just a rate which xsolla proposes you

While that may be true it is not the point I am trying to make here, as I said in the OP "If there are extra charges PGI should indicate that in the pricing upfront" and if it is not PGI who dictates pricing information then Xsolla should be extending the same courtesy to the consumer.

Because you did the math wrong.

1 USD = 1.33 CAN

20 USD = 26.67 CAN

Pretty close IMO.

Also - the exchange rate itself is 75c USD is equal to $1.00 CDN - What this means is that $1 USD is worth $1.33` CDN....

To buy one USD at this time costs $1.33 CDN - before the finance people add their cut - they have to pay the banks extra also - so they might get the deal for between $1.34 to $1.37.. before they add on a few cents for themselves... If you have to pay somewhere near $1.40.. that is actually pretty close to right. Shopping around might shave off a couple of pennies - but not much more than that.

To be sure, a 40% increase in the cost of buying all things American is putting a serious damper on Canadian purchases.

I've bought a pack for 20 USD, I pay USD and visa charged me USD, and I ended up paying 28 USD,

They made the convertion to ARS but I pay USD for all the online transactions.

They charged me a convertion fee for nothing.

I wanted to buy the Archer Hero mech but no more buying for me.

Nice scam.

These threads are about the only true facepalm material I ever see on the forums. Most "facepalm" stuff is really only one opinion vs another, where one man's facepalm is another man's irrefutable fact.

Am I missing something here or do people really not understand what an exchange rate is?

Well, you can't pay in USD, if you don't have any USD. If you only have money in a different currency, an exchange will have to be made.

Why doesn't PGI just add USD at the end of their prices already!? We keep seeing these threads every week.

-sigh- you will pay $20 USD +12% tax (5% GST+7%PST) as the sale happens in BC, Canada, that's before the exchange rate to Canadian dollars happens, and every credit card charges a different amount, you never get the pure exchange rate. So likely you are seeing $28 Canadian being charged to you, rather than the $20 USD....

Yes, the convertion tax from Xsolla is 40%, using paypal bypasses it.

Its the first time I see something like this in all my years purchasing online.
