So, I dub goose rifles the official weapon of the tier. I saw so many tonight, combined with lasers(or more goose!) it was almost laughable.

What prompted this post? A match I had on mining colony. We had an AFK Shadowcat, and an afk DWF at end of match. Red team is cleaning up, some lights go farm the cat.

I am spectate in the DWF, wondering how quad UAC10's might have helped our closer then the score match turn out differently, when I hear the telling sound of a goose shell landing home into the DWF.

And then, another one, and another. I see red teams remains, cresting the ridge coming my way in the DWF. 5 mechs, mediums to heavy, I think there was a EXE in the back.

The goose shells, they came in like a hailstorm. ALL 5 enemy had them lol. it was surreal, listening to them farm dmg off the DC DWF with these things, slam slam s-s-slam slam s-slam, one after another, the little sparks raining off the barrels of the enemy lance as I observed.

It was funny, and sad at the same time.

Um...Gauss has always been the defacto long range ballistic weapon.

...In pretty much all brackets of play...except maybe the lowest (the charge up mechanic trips up some newer players).

Laser Spam and Gauss Spam...everything else is just for fun.

imo gauss is bad for farming score
it's just 150 damage per tonne of ammo

Gauss is bad for Matchscore Farming bcs it is way to strong+accurate...

its just inf+1 damage per ton of gun.

the current score system is poorly suited to reward accurate precise strikes, to get a good score you should hammer them with a huge mace all over their whole mech

Would be nice if Damage score was weighted depending on the part you hit. Hitting a vital area would give you a higher score and more cbills, if you aren't hitting a vital area then you would still be doing more damage in general and getting component destruction points, so both styles would still make roughly similar profits.

On clan mechs I tend to choose a UAC10 or 20 to go with my laser vomit. Less range, but more damage.

Maybe that's why I'm tier 3

Deuce goose and dual erll on my crab sure make for a hell of a time when I get in the grove.


It's always a good feeling to square off on a direwhale and h-h-h-headshot them, one blow KO and take away that "easy crab kill" they thought they had with their mountain of daka.

We definitely need more threads about Gauss.

Until they get nerfed, and everyone shifts to a new weapon system or combo - then we need threads about that every day too.

The flip side to farming is getting all the assist possible which works best with a win. Gauss do help win matches. So maybe a better term is "culling" as in removing the mechs from the herd.
