Amazing artwork.

Reminds me of the build-up for Star Wars: The Old Republic (MMORPG) which had "Jedi archive records" that laid out the setting of the Old Republic and its history. It featured some great artwork and good voice acting. It really helped all new players immerse themselves in the SW:TOR setting.

Hopefully the Battletech game will have some nice cutscenes and focus more on the story of Battletech in 3025 instead of being all about the game and shooting mechs. I know they've said they want to focus on the story, but it remains to be seen what exactly they mean by that.

Simple videos with a combination of artwork and voice acting are very cheap and easy to do, but can still have an enormous effect.

Battletech Modernized is my guess and it appears JW is targeting to appease newer players.

That Griffin looks to be about the size of an Atlas. At that point an Atlas will probably be able to look eye to eye with Jaegers from Pacific Rim.

Sorry, this is the best what was available. Maybe HBS will release bigger sizes later.

Is it just me or is this Mech WAY too huge?

A normal car is mostly "empty" and already weighs a ton.
Remove all the "air" in it and that ton boils down to this:

Such a "Mech building" made of mostly massive metal wouldn't weigh 55 tons, more like 550 tons or 1000 tons or so.

If you assume the pilot is 6 Ft tall then the mech is about 30-36 feet tall which is about 10 meters. That is about average for a battlemech, and the Griffin is fairly tall for a medium.

Taking into account that the Griffin is distant compared to the pilot, the 'mech would be well over 65ft.

Do you really need to have a window 3m in diameter to look out of your mech? Oh wait, you're even wearing a VR helmet.
