Is it that simple? I got a 160 ping one night and a 300 ping since. Will we ever see 160 again?!

We should do, yes. From what I understand the restore of the cable hasn't been going well. As far as I'm aware the link is well down on capacity and I'm not sure if commercial traffic is being routed over it. I'll check up and see what I can find.

As a temporary fix I have been using a VPN to route through to NZ which avoids the issue for me.
I have also seen that Telstra on the east coast is the worst effected we have other members on different providers who dont get hit so bad.

eh have you route selection hatepriest or is that particular VPN via NZ onwards? Highly considering VPN if its going to directly effect latency.

I believe once they get this 20Tbps Singapore-Perth cable running.
It will certainly help with the routing problems for Aussies to Oceanic servers.

I'm in NZ and my ping went from 240 in North American server to 400 recently... no idea what's happening.

Notice pings to NA went back to the norm today.

I'm still pinging just under 500 to both NA and EU and about 60-80 to OC. I've had only OC servers selected for weeks now.
