So, from the pictures we know that new Battletech game will be using PGI's mech designs.

Licensing is afoot!

When can I go buy minis or small(ish) figurines of PGI's mechs? I would throw money at whoever provides this....

They do not have the licensing to make minis...only Video games.

If I remember correctly PGI doesn't have the license for doing physical goods, and HBS probably doesn't either. That being said I would love to buy some minis as well.

My point is, PGI is selling or licensing their artwork. Hoping a toy or mini manufacturer picks this up...

You can apparently extract the 3D models and have them 3D printed. There's a thread in the fan creations forum that I'm too lazy to find where someone did exactly that. Otherwise, no dice I'm afraid. Catalyst games could in theory adopt similar designs for their minis, but that's up to them.

I know there's a way to do it and I've read the thread -- good stuff. I just don't have the ability (skill and financial) to do this any time soon.....

As far as I know, only IWM can produce miniatures (or CGL in cooperation with IWM).

IF someone else wanted to then sure, but there isnt much money to be made off it honestly. Unless there was a TT game boxed ready to go with the PGI minis i dont see them selling many at all.

Might get a few thousand sales here but that's nothing compared to the licensing and copyright costs you would have to pay to make them....then HG gets thrown into the mix if you make the wrong looking model...its a whole can of worms and not worth it honestly.

Best thing to do is find someone with a 3d Printer willing to do custom jobs and get the Files from the game.

I imagine the new game will have people (like me) longing to relive the nostalgia of TT gaming but with the updated models. :D Here's to hope'in.

I asked HBS:

Quote

Is this game going to include micro-transactions?

Are there any plans to produce physical miniatures based on the updated Battlemech designs?

Quote

BATTLETECH will be a premium title with a retail price of up to $40, depending on the number of Funding Stages our backers unlock during this Kickstarter.

We don't have any plans at this point to produce physical miniatures but it makes us sad.

Thanks for asking!

Robin

Your right that would be better than mini's. I admit it I am a man child. :) Because 1 foot high model mechs would be awsome. :)
