Is it a tecnical issue or just a design choice?

Why Don't Flamers Hit Multiple Parts?

Do you mean a CoF? They can do it, the MG has one, and they share the same mechanics.
They are pinpoint weapons, but unlike most other weapons, they actually have problems converging at close range, and there is a strange 'coneoffire' stat in the Weapons.XML (at 10, I think) but it doesn't make sense in the traditional meaning, as it deals pinpoint damage.
Do you mean 0.07 damage to multiple points simultaneously, effectively doubling damage (but not changing useful damage).

The flamer hitting multple parts at once kinda makes sense with it firing a stream of fire wider than most light mechs. Just think of being able to hit CT, both STs, and the arms all at once, maybe even legs too. Flamer could be used as an overall damage weapon and might be boated solely for that purpose if that were to happen.

Yea, they either need to fix the way it deals damage, or fix the vfx for the weapon.
If they can't get CoF to work, hopefully they can figure out a way for splash damage to work without it turning into a Dance Dance Revolution Perfect x50 Multiplier for damage.

If the Flamer could hit multiple sections of a mech in each second intervals... it "should" allow the accelerated heating of the mech.
I doubt it'll ever happen though.

I do mean it hitting multiple body parts to match the graphics.
And yes, also hoping that it would also ramp up the heat.
So I take it from the replies here that this is by design choice, more so than limitation of game engine?
