Truth.

Of course, this applies to everything, and is why I'm extremely reluctant to preorder mechs now. I prefer waiting for packs to be released before dropping cash - I've been burned before by the classic "Holy crap, this mech sucks" on release.

Mechs with high weapon mounts will never suck, so Hunchiee IIC atleast, will be a safe bet. Same goes for the Jenner IIC. It is not gonna be as good as the Cheater, but it is sure as hell gonna be solid.

So HBK pack is probably the most ideal.

The correct answer to purchase a Hunchback IIC package before October 6th. By doing so you receive the junk Nova-A free. That Nova can fitted with better pods however and still retain its 30% c-bill boost.

Doing so essentially gives you a free Nova(I) with a better paintjob. The other two still need to be purchased, but it is a minor grind.

Plus by the time you finish leveling Novas the IIC mechs will be out.

Nova is also getting a re-scaling to make it smaller don't forget :D

Sry to be off-topic, but when the hell is this happening? Didn't we have the rescale poll like 10 centuries ago?

According to Russ, not in 2015.

But - you can build a Nova to have additional 128 hit points (structure+armor quirks). That means it's got a couple HP points more than a unquirked 65-tonner (Hellbringer, Ebon Jaguar).

You can build a Nova to have -10% ER or Pulse laser heat and you get to boat the best close to medium range weapons currently in the game (ERSL, ERML, SPL&MPL). Plus, you've got the 2 slot DHS and Clan XL.

And you've got jump jets that actually work. Whenever you want them, or not :-)

I say it's one of the best, if not THE best 50 tonner in the game.

I'm glad your problem was solved. As someone who's piloted the Nova quite a bit, it can be a really fun ride, but absolutely punishing if you aren't careful. My personal favorite set up is 10 CSPL. It loses a little range to the 12ERSL configuration, but I like the shorter beam duration with the same damage, and for some reason, CSPL have a lower ghost heat multiplier, so you can alpha with it and not immediately overheat. With 60 damage, not accounting for structure quirks, you can take out anything under the size of a Stalker fairly reliably with 1 shot to the rear CT. Heat spike is about 60% with 2xBasics, if I remember right. Lately I've shifted to 10 ERML because sometimes I get impatient waiting for the right moment to jump in and evaporate the enemy. The jumpjets on the Nova are also top notch, and probably the standard against which most other mechs should be measured.

That said, I await the arrival of the Jenner IIC with a bit of trepidation. I think they're going to be absolute monsters, and start another wave of whine, splattering nerf threads across general discussion to match or beat what the Arctic Cheetah conjured. Faster, meaner, only really missing ECM. If the hitboxes don't hold them back, it's going to be frightful. I do, however, look forward to the larger light que. If I hadn't gotten the Marauder, I'd probably have gone for a hunchback pack eventually. Everybody better watch their backs, those SRMs and ERMLs are going to be painful.

Now don't get me wrong, I like the Nova and all, but you're comparing it to the Hunchback and Centurion here, both of which have variants that can pack an AC/20. The Hunchie can do that on a shoulder mount no less, and the Cent? Well, with an arm mount it can bring an AC/20 and an XL engine.

Granted, with the current scoring system AC/20s aren't on par with lasers, which allow you to hose your damage everywhere, but even in that department, there's a laser boat Hunchie with a laser shoulder mount that trumps the Nova's hardpoint locations.

Simple question; Should I get the Jenner IIC Origins Package, or Blackhawk Package? Pros and cons (Other than Nova is still bad?)

That said, I am back to being the lord of the Underhive. Locusts for everyone!

Have you considered just getting Ice Cream instead?

I've mastered all the Hunchbacks and Centurions (except Yenlowang, but i've got the AH).
AC20 is certainly nice in a brawl, but SPLs are so much better.
10 SPLs weigh 4 tonns and give you 3xAlpha and 4xDPS.
Yeah, it's that good.
