So I am excited for the crab mech. I am excited to see it fly through the air and launch projectiles at my enemies from the claw. But I am hoping that it isn't like the BK. I like the BK and it is a fun mech to play and I think with the re-quirking it will make a great command/support mech in the long term. But I am not to familiar with the crab [history or anything really] and I am wondering if people think this will be a winner or another Black Knight? Any input is appreciated.

I think it depends on the quirks and how the hitboxes are distributed. As cool (read: Sexy) as it looks, the Crab's design gives it some glaring weaknesses. I hope the legs, CT, and STs get some generous helpings of structure and armor quirks, and some heat gen wouldn't hurt either.

...Actually, that's what the Black Knight should have gotten too >_>

Either way, It's too soon to tell.

Well, at least its hardpoints are mounted higher.

Why are you comparing it to the Black Knight?

You should be comparing it to the HBK-4P, the all-energy Hunchback.

Oh because of the fact that they are both in resistance II. No other reason.

That would indeed be a fairer compareson.

And in that compareson the Crab is likely to be a bit better if fitted with a standard engine.

3 available hardpoints between the CT and head make for some pretty impressive zombie potential especially if the crab has side torsos similar in geometry to a Stalker.

If that is the case then a Crab will last a good amount of time after it has been de-torsoed and still have some decent offence.

Honestly, the Crab is probably going to be another fun, cool looking nostalgia trophy that ultimately sucks against anyone tier 3 and above. It will melt in in mere moments because it has the most egregious case of dragon syndrome since the Dragon itself or maybe the Catapult even. I'm getting it too don't get me wrong but unless I'm trolling or something or doing a Crab+Crab+Crab+ King Crab CW drop deck for fun it will gather dust at some point.

Had ( and still have) fun with the BK. Hard point height is a non issue for me as I was never a good hill humper to begin with. The quirks on the ( R ) varient gave me Erll that are only 7 meters short of Clan range. So I can only hope the Crab is similar. ( with 50% less CT incoming fire magnet ;) )

Like ok, we all know it is going to be a 50 ton Jenner, but I am completely okay with that - my tier ain't going any lower and I'll bet it will out perform my Vindicators :)

I'm thinking of MPL's and a big STD engine if the boxes are off - otherwise it'll be a big XL engine and LPL's.

well, for crab there is no much... hope

if they didn't screw its hitboxes it's not xl friendly, actually xl hateful (but very std friendly, like stalker)... which is a disaster on a medium mech
if they screwed them it's xl friendly in the catapult way with a huge ct

so.. hope for the first and be ready to run std on a 50 tonner

You have to put a hell of a lot of trust in the people balancing the game for the Crab to be a great mech.

It has to be small
It has to have good hitboxes
It has to have good perks

I really don't expect it to be better than the HBK-4P. It'll probably be very usable, but not great.

Really? Like the dragon. Interesting...why? I in the end hope it won't be like a crab looking vindicator.

I want to make a drop deck of crab like mechs, so Crab, Marauder, King Crab and then something to fill the gap.

Crab peeeople... craaaaab peeeeople....

I like the crab's design but the all energy only part turned me off from paying real cash. Looks like fun, but probably not going to be competitive regardless as it's an IS medium.

Going to throw lots of people into confusion when yelling or typing "crab! at xletter!" You won't know if its the 100 ton face puncher or the pew zap mini crab unless some one targets it.
