So I've been away from the MechWarrior scene for a while, mainly playing Counter-Strike as a replacement, and I'm coming back. Could someone fill me in on the latest things?

Notable changes?
Is the game better? (balance, maps, mechs, etc)
Does the game have a bright future?

Could someone answer these for me?

If you didn't enjoy it then you won't enjoy it now. Polish is being added and features are trickling in. There will be some balance revamp "sometime in the future™". Some maps have been ( or are being) markedly improved ( that doesn't stop people from still running to the same places like lemmings to fight ).

Still, it boils down the the first sentence in my post.

I'm enjoying the game!

If you left during the poptart epoch, then there is a greater variety of good mechs now that lasers and Gauss are ruling the roost.

Don't listen to the grumps.

This game has improved greatly in the last two years. I recently came back from along break and started playing again a few months ago. I'm really digging it.

How long have you been gone OP?

Took almost a year off, played a few matches, some maps are much different but it was a stomp or be stomped night, so that did not change one bit. The mechs that I had a chance to play with are as I remembered. My favorites still do their jobs well. The mech lab has a different feel, not so much a better feel but different, I do like a few of the changes with the loadout tools.

It is still very much the same ol' boring slugging match, it is some what fun but I will tire of it rather quickly.

Giving it a few matches this week.
