But if you're giving away a free warhammer, what am I going to give away?

You should give away a free warhammer as well. There is always room for more warhammers.

I'm bumping this so that it can hopefully get more views. For those of you who don't know, Soulstrom has been trying to run a tournament to raise money for cancer research and needs 11 more people to sign up to make it a reality.

We are having the tournament. Formal Registration is [sign-up] is closed, but if you go over to the post I did make an announcement for free participation only for the next 6 people [at the the moment] who post on the thread that they want to compete but there are terms for that free registration. ;)

Go check it out if you are interested otherwise, Thanks Guy! for the bump and the support. :)

Nope, use the money to help the kiddos instead of buying mechs for a grown man. Use the poster as you please :)

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. While most people are aware of breast cancer, many forget to take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages and encourage others to do the same. We have made a lot of progress but still have a long way to go and need your help!

Positive and inspiring others to do their part for charity work? OK. First, my wife was an oncology nurse for several years. That alone makes this near and dear to my heart. Her stories, both the good and bad, have really but the awful plague of cancer into perspective.

Next, is Sarah's Jenner. If you don't know about Sarah's Jennee, I strongly advise you research it. In summary, Sarah was the daughter of one of PGI's staff. She developed brain cancer, and sadly, at a very young age, (3 or 4, I believe) she passed from it. In her honor, PGI created the Sarah's Jenner, as that was her favorite mech to drive. She loved to sit in her daddy's lap and run around pew pewing people with the lasers. Players bought the mech in droves, dropped them in all Sarah Jenner drops in her honor, and the month of her death, someone puts on a tournament. PGI donated substantially all funds to cancer research. Hearing about that made me proud of this community. We've come together to fight cancer before. We can do it again in the tournament Soulstrom is hosting.

Lastly, I have a couple of college acquaintances who are having a hard time due to childhood cancer. They have a boy who is about 5, who is fighting leukemia. He seems to he doing OK, but to see him fighting it still is harsh, especially having a son myself his age. I don't have a consistent enough play time to participate in the tournament, but I have another idea to help him out. In KC, where I l8ve, one of our pro althetes recently came back after his own battle with cancer; Eric Berry with the Chiefs. The boy is a Chiefs fan. It may be far fetched, but I will see if I can reach out to the Chiefs organization and request Eric send hum a letter of encouragement. That would almost certainly lift the boy's spirits.

I still think it is a metrosexual version of the original Warhammer and it would be dishonest, were I to participate.

However, I really salute your effort to have a positive effect with this competition. Big thumbs up!

Ever person that posts is a participant. :)

You just need to get "like" on your post.

In regards to the Sarah's Jenner my co--host and I discussed having a 12 v 12 Sarah Jenner Contest to get the tournament fun started as a pre-game. If anyone is interest please go here: http://mwomercs.com/...re-competition/

Along the way, Soulstrom had the misfortune of trying to advertise this great event over the MechWarrior reddit subforum and has received death threats for trying to get people to sign up for the tournament. As a result, Soulstrom has become disillusioned with the MWO community.

Say what? What kind of d-bag does that; hopefully it was reported and the user dealt with his local authorities.

Agreed, but it is done and over with. :)

So moving forward I just posted something about a Sarah's Jenner pre-game for the tournament. Check out those details. I can't offer anything because I am super tapped out, but it would be cool to see 24 Sarah's Jenner's fighting it out.

Also PGI Staff if you want to get involved in this pre-game post here or there so I know.

I'm not exactly after the free Warhammer, as I plan to get it myself.

Earlier today, I played a couple of matches in which people asked if others are buying the Warhammer package. More than a few said no simply because "It will be a ****** mech with bad PPC quirks." Maybe one or two in that match said they were buying it... not because it will be good or bad, but because of the sheer nostalgia it brings. What I don't understand is that... when PGI throws us a bone people complain? They went through a crap-ton of legal walls to get the Marauder and Warhammer in the game for the people who want it. Russ knows how we want our nostalgic mechs, and people complain about hardpoints and hitboxes? It's the freakin' Warhammer people! When did people trade lore and immersion for viability? This might not be the nice post people are expecting in this thread, but damnit... Get it for nostalgia's sake. D;

Already bought the Warhammer pack (out-of-control nostalgia reasons, of course), but this thread (and the tournament) is fantastic! Hope more folks will get on this thread ... :)
