I tend to play a lot for a couple of weeks then take a break for around the same amount of time or so. I don't find it too bad as the game lets me do other stuff while still providing entertainment.

The lack of stuff to force me to log in everyday might be what's making it difficult for numbers to remain high for things like CW though.

To be clear, I don't have bittervetrage nor is that the cause of why I stop playing. It's the kind of game that I play when I want to because I feel no obligation to be here every single day (unlike that darn card game I play, curses! I've been logging on that thing every single day for four or five months straight).

It's cute that's the only response you can give, to repeat Minimally viable over and over without actually giving an answer with any substance to it. Yet you're still here with thousands of posts. Go figure.

I'm exerting minimally viable trolling effort for a minimally viable robbit arena shooter..

Seems balanced to me brah.

And what did you expect in a Mechwarrior game? Even bringing CW into it? If anyone remembers MPBT:3025 there wasn't more to it than fighting over planets to watch it change to your faction's color. I've asked Vassago this before and never got an answer but truly what were you thinking the game was going to be like? That's different from how it currently is?

I suppose you mean in an "ideal world". Ok, then I would expect a kind of strategic meta game. Where each realm has different resources and attacking strategically important worlds has priority. Then you wouldn't mindlessly switch Houses like underwear ;)

I don't know what it is I want to like this game! Just something about the game that makes it a bit boring. Its a feeling that I can't describe in words really even with the new mechs you drop in its exciting at first but then that excitment goes away. Am I the only one who feels like this? I don't remember not having fun in Mechwarrior 2 this way even if it was only with bots.

there's a burnout
gotta give it a pause for a more extended time and play something different

my last pause was 4 months actually

but then I joined in closed Beta, been around a while

Eh. It's always the same more or less. Unless you're in the mood or just really enjoy MWO over and over again, it can get stale (burnout.) I mean, it's fun building a mech and thinking of all these cool scenarios in your head, then you realize you're just going to be going into 1 of a dozen arenas over and over again.

Only if i terribly suck in the new mech.
In which case i try completely reinventing the build in search of something that works for me.

@OP

I was like you for a few months after they stealth-nerfed LRMs and then slowed PPCs to 850mps because all you could do at that point was run lasers every friggin match. How boring, why would I want to play that game more than a few matches per week? Which is what I did.

Now some mechs are quirked and PPCs are a bit faster, though still too slow, so I was able to make some alternate loadouts work and I am playing again although not much CW. LRMs are still heavily nerfed and MWO still suffers from same vanilla weapons in different wrappers, but if you accept not being as damaging as laserboats for some better fun it can be.

I feel the same way, it's so 1 dimensional. Group goes to a common location to engage the other team no matter the mode.

Very few people will talk, so same tactics are used in almost every game. Then you have the stomps cycle. Win 2 or 3 lose 2 or 3. 1 in 20 is the fun 8 to 12 games.

But I can't stop playing, I get so frustrated each night that I keep removing start menu and bookmarked links, but haven't removed the game yet.

Running a 3L with 3MPL and Narc, and acting as the most annoying rat possible doesn't get old quickly. Especially when you do your job, and you rake in 140K + without premium time.

I like to imagine I'm the reason someone rage quits in an assault after they get smashed by LRMs.

No I have not figured out how to take any other mechs through other than the ones they offer in the Training Grounds. If I can take my Warhawk in there to gauntlet please explain how to do it.

i managed to take my mastered awesome into training grounds and run gauntlet with it;

i think you just get in your mech and choose academy (so long as you have finished the tutorial mode i think)

Each match has the potential to be a great and fun simply the structure of the game allows very different things to happen, but most of the times the match maker does such a crappy job to put balanced teams that most matches are just stomps. Every time i get 10-12 (12-10) or even 8-12 (12-8) i have fun even if its just to watch my surviving team mates to fight. If you even get to watch a tourney stream you'll see that the game is awesome to watch because its all about big stompy robots loosing limbs and firing giant cannons, but the real games when you're playing don't allow you to see that because you're too busy dying. Not sure if they're still doing it, but stock matches are the pinnacle of this game
