I hate mice. I use trackballs. :D

Do you have wrist pain issues?

I would absolutely not recommend mapping more than two weapon groups to your mouse. Reason being that moving your hand or hitting any button not right on top of your mouse throws off your aim.

Map keys around WASD to all the other functions you need. Personally I have groups 1-2 on the mouse, center mouse for zoom, 3 on alt, 4 on capslock, 5 on tilde, and 6 on left shift (usually for TAG).

I already covered that with the G502, and its the major selling point for the mouse for me.

The key selling point for me is the location of the key labelled "Weapon Group 3".

The design allows you to control it with your index finger, which can also control the Left Mouse Button - and it makes it very easy to fire those two weapon groups simultaneously with just one finger.

It's the other way around actually. I don't have issues because I've been using trackballs ever since Logitech came out with them. We're a mouse-free home in these parts. ;)

my mouse pad has a nice gel wrist rest; so far it has helped prevent wrist pain

I am surprised to hear so many people use a DPI adjuster. But I imagine video games attract a number of players with neuromuscular issues, and that could definitely assist with aiming.

Try torso twisting with a low DPI, then try it with a high DPI.

Try aiming with a low DPI, then try it again with a high DPI.

A DPI downshift simply allows the best of both worlds in this case.

1900x1200
MWO Mouse Sensitivity set as low as it goes (0.1 IIRC)
Mouse set to 5500 DPI, downshift press drops it to 1200

That's how I run my set up, sometimes I have to adjust if I'm going from extremes like a DWF to a light mech.

I don't have any known neuromuscular issues.

Nope. Half the players don't have the brainpower to manage multiple weapon groups so everything is tied to left click alpha-striking.

So what do you guys recommend?

I use a 2button+wheel. And i set 'E' to a group.

Multibutton may be nice but not needed unless you climb to high levels of play.

when i pilot my cicada i use 2 mouse button and i set a weapon group to left control key, usually i snipe with this key and use the left and right mouse clicks to fire the main/brawling weapgroups. i also do this with dragon ac5 + largelas.

what i actually prefer to do is drive assault mechs with 6 weapon groups, and shoot the weapon groups all with keyboard. no fancy mouse crap - i would feel like i was disabled for real if i had to use that lol but you're free to do whatever you want

I usually set up 4 fire groups, 2 groups, being for right and left side weapons. Then the next two for right and left toggled with chain fire.

Make it easy to strafe left or right behind cover firing from either side, to alpha I just press all the buttons. =P

The really fun part is using a full fire group with a chain fire one, getting me a near alpha for high heat situations.

Never heard of a rechargeable mouse but you can get rechargeable batteries to use in a wireless mouse.

they do exist. i have a very old logitech with an internal lithium battery and charging circuit. but its showing its age bad. there is a charging station that uses a couple spring contacts to interface with a pair of recharge terminals on the mouse. they are corroded from years of use and often need to be scraped down to bare metal to get it to charge. the mouse itself is on its second cell transplant and has go through no fewer than 4 sets of key switches.

removable cells are kind of a crappy situation. you need a charger that can operate in trickle mode to keep a set of batteries on stand by. charger eats up valuable desk space. nimh are especially nasty in low power devices, they will self discharge themselves faster than the device can. its my backup mouse and those batteries are the reason why its #2. my charger is one of those multi chemistry chargers so i might try those lifepo4 cells and see what they can do.
