So, I cobbled together a laser vomit Gargoyle the other day, 4 ERML and 6 SPL. Had tonnage to spare so I whacked a mkIV targeting computer on it. Should I just ditch it for 4 more heatsinks instead?

If you are fine with the Heat generation in fights, then keep the TC by all means (or maybe add AMS and/or CAP by changing to a smaller TC). If you have trouble managing the heat in a fight, then ditch the TC for 4 Heatsinks though. It is all down to how you personally pay and prefere to play.
