Greetings MechWarriors,

This post details the Loadout information for all variants of the Resistance 2 Crab chassis, releasing in-part to eligible pilots with the October 6th patch.

Pictured variant: CRB-27 [R]

Crab
Release date for MC: December 1st 2015
Release date for C-Bills: January 5th 2016

Originally designed in the twilight era of the Star League, the Crab distinguished itself as an extremely reliable 'Mech capable of operating with relatively minimal maintenance. This degree of reliability, combined with its speed and lack of reliance on ammo, allowed the Crab to be utilized most effectively behind enemy lines where it could put its highly advanced communications system to good use. After the collapse of the Star League the complexity of that communications system proved to be a liability; the knowledge behind its construction and maintenance soon dwindled, and was eventually lost.

Unconventional appearance aside, as a low-profile 50-ton Medium 'Mech comprised almost entirely of Energy hardpoints the Crab possesses sufficient speed, power, and resilience to excel as a skirmisher over long-term engagements.

Crab CRB-27 [R]

The CRB-27 [R] is the special Resistance version of the CRB-27, and features a custom Resistance Pattern and custom geometry. It is only available through a Collection or a la carte purchase.

Wait, what about Loyalty 'mechs? Their quirks still haven't been posted yet. I mean, at least those that are getting released tomorrow, I don't really care about those released on 20th... I just want to dream about my Cicada builds whole night :3

I need more information to keep my brain from getting a mind of its own!

EDIT: Hey, that wasn't there before! Alex, you beat me to the post!

Good job with the quirks PGI. Yet another mech that isn't worth piloting. You're dropping the ball big time guys...and many of us aren't too thrilled.

Good job on giving up on a 'mech that wasn't even released yet. Please teach me master, how can you already know that this 'mech is not worthy of being piloted?

I personally think that this 'mech will be awesome. It has good scaling, it is fast, one of them can jump and they all can pack a serious punch. I believe that if it were released before the quirks came, it would be one of the top medium mechs.

I just don't understand some people, they think that quirks are everything that matters... I mean, look at Black Knight, even if it had 50% lower heat generation, it wouldn't help it, since it can't shoot over a small rock. Though if you stop playing pokefest and focus on flanking... That's where the Black Knight shines the most. Every chassis has a different play style, and I believe that Crab too will find it's place on the battlefield.

I'm not concerned unless they drop the ball on a mech's quirks AFTER the big rebalancing. Besides, I don't see any dropped balls here.

The ones we're getting now are actually pretty respectable for a mech with such a small profile, solid speed and agility (It's got a SMALL movement profile! It'll climb hills like a Jenner, Firestarter, or Raven!), and weapon doors on the arms (like the King Crab) that'll help protect the arms even further.

You know what's ********?

There's lots of things that are legitimately problematic with this game.

There are lots of things that are obvious to the community, that if the devs only listened to us, would actually make the game better.

But this **** right here is why the devs won't listen to us.

Because people spout off-the-wall ****, that they OBVIOUSLY can't know anything about, because it's not even in our hands yet.

It makes it very difficult for the devs to want to listen to us about anything.

I'm tired of getting the game you deserve.

no ****... i mean, i pilot a mech for the look, and the hardpoints, and i mess around with unique builds regardless of quirks. hell, several "crappily quirked" mechs shine when you fit stuff they're NOT quirked for on them, case in point, the Zeus 6S, dual AC/5s actually SUCK compared to just tossing an AC/10 on there.

not PGI's fault if you're too stupid to think up your own mech builds, Ramrod. Perhaps you should go back to Call of Duty.

I dunno. I'm actually kinda interested once its out for c-bills.

This thing is like half the height of a Trebuchet? I enjoyed the 5J variant in spite of its bulk. And since the Trenchie redesign isn't in the pipes, this mech might just be the bee's knees.

Yeah yeah, quirks underwhelming but that's only if you intend to compete with a Stormcrow. But yup, its out a little late though. It would have been so much more fun to drive this mech before the clan invasion.

It's still going to be plenty fun to pilot now. every one of those Crabs can break 100kph, have low profiles, and weapon placements that'll make them pretty accurate. it's pretty likely they'll be a common sight once MC and C-bills hits.

quirks or not, the placement and weapons loadout on these babies does lend them to be excellent tanky high speed skirmishers.

in all honesty, mechs like the 5SS aren't supermeta because of the quirks alone, it's also the fact all those lasers are in a tight grouping and therefore a lot more focused damage, even when mechs like the Black Knight and Grasshopper have pretty much the same quirks, are more tanky, and probably manage heat better. Hardpoint layout > quirks every time.

where it is, and what you can put on it. excellent examples for, say, Ballistics: Shadow Hawk, Ballistic mounted beside the cockpit, thus highly accurate. Jagermech, high arms, roughly beside the cockpit, same reason, Catapult K2, just below Cockpit, same reason. most other mechs have much lower mounted ballistics, which make the pilot have to allow for it, and thus your accuracy will suffer a little.

but my point remains, the hardpoint locations on a mech really are what determines how good at a battlefield role it can really be, not the quirks it has. mean, hell, look at the Arctic Cheetah, the C pretty much lost all the omnipod quirks it had, period, yet people still run the same build they were previously, and doing it pretty much just as effectively, because the Cheetah's got excellent hardpoint layout, and it's a highly mobile Striker role OmniMech.

y'all kids whining about quirks need to learn to stop using them as a crutch and learn to build and pilot your mech, not your quirks.
