Just wanted to post and say i was surprised looking through the loadouts for these new mechs that the Wolverine has MASC capability. Is it the first IS mech to have it so far?

So more importantly, what the heck do I do with it?

How much bonuses does masc give me? Percentage of speed increase or what?

You get a modest speed boost, but it's mostly to increase in agility, specifically acceleration and deceleration. It should say what the bonuses are in the equipment tooltip.

Yes, it is the first. The MASC is also very underwhelming and not worth the tonnage in my opinion.

Details on MASC can be found here: http://mwomercs.com/...05-16-jun-2015/

Quote

Stats common to all MASC items:
  • Acceleration bonus: +175%
  • Deceleration bonus: +150%
  • Turn rate bonus: +25%
  • Gauge fill rate: 10% per second
  • Gauge drain rate: 2% per second
  • Damage threshold: 75%

MASC MK I
  • Slots/Tons: 1 slot, 1 ton
  • 'Mech Tonnage Range: 20 tons
  • Speed bonus: +10%
  • Random damage range: 0.72 – 0.88
MASC MK II
  • Slots/Tons: 2 slots, 2 tons
  • 'Mech Tonnage Range: 25 - 40 tons
  • Speed bonus: +10%
  • Random damage range: 1.08 – 1.32
MASC MK III
  • Slots/Tons: 3 slots, 3 tons
  • 'Mech Tonnage Range: 45 - 60 tons
  • Speed bonus: +12%
  • Random damage range: 1.98 – 2.42
MASC MK IV
  • Slots/Tons: 4 slots, 4 tons
  • 'Mech Tonnage Range: 65 - 80 tons
  • Speed bonus: +17%
  • Random damage range: 2.7 – 3.3
MASC MK V
  • Slots/Tons: 5 slots, 5 tons
  • 'Mech Tonnage Range: 85 - 100 tons
  • Speed bonus: +20%
  • Random damage range: 3.24 – 3.96

The agility is great for peaking. You can reverse speed or go from 0 to max speed so fast.

I wish you the best of luck with that thing. Wolverines are so far the only mechs I just could not get the hang of (and I have REALLY low standards). I loathed the loyalty mech so much that I actually had PGI remove it from my account since I could not sell it. Worst part is that because I got the loyalty variant, I bought MC to get the bonus Quarantine and then bought a 7K as I never really had a dedicated SRM build other than my Huggin. Total disaster. All because I was overly excited about this mech. (Don't misunderstand I think the loyalty rewards were excellent I just made really bad decisions!).

Anyway, I ran it with SRMs and ML with the MASC, thinking the speed burst would help me close. It did, I just didn't have enough firepower to do much to whatever I was closing with. Tried an AC10 and Ultra-5 builds as well. Did a little better but other mechs work better with those and so I saw this mech as pointless or at least not for me.

Good luck.

With MASC, it is a very effective harrasser. I used UAC5, ML & 2 SRMs. peek out, Alpha with a few extra UAC shots, duck back and reposition. MASC did well for quick turning helping to maneuver about.

I just mastered it!

I love it, but I am a glutton for punishment, since other than MASC, the other varients are superior to the ballistic or SRM game.

I found the most success came when I eschewed any hope of using a real ballistic weapon, and now use 2mg, 2asrm6 and a MPL with a xl 300 and full JJ. The MASC makes you absolutely brutal at brawling, so if you are good with srms, you can be a real *******. I actually got 7 kills in this thing the other day and an Arctic Cheetah called me and my mech, "OP." He obviously didn't know what he was talking about but it just shows that if you want to chase down winged little clan birds and grind them to dust, you totally can.

I'm still to run this thing, but here's what I'm thinking. AC10, 2xSRM6, MPL, should be a fun little brawler. This is waiting for the rebalance to land though -- I have a feeling that non-Artemis SRM6's might just become viable with the tighter missile grouping.

Alternatively, go full troll mode, and put a flamer in the head, so it looks like it's breathing fire.

Dude. If only this was the least of the bad decisions I make in this game.
