While I cant agree with the way this was posted (a bit too short and lack of detail) i have to say i agree with you in that they have put far too much emphasis on brawling. What's the point of an ER Large?

Brawling?! In these maps if you brawl you will hit surely an obstacle that stop your mech and you are dead!

Short answer: Map designers are idiots.
Long answer: They are trying to make all maps "balanced" i.e. suitable for long-range / mid-range / short-range engagement. Old maps were biased towards one or the other (i.e. Caustic pure long range map, River City pure short range map) and it was perfectly fine. Instead of allowing us to choose what maps we play or choose a loadout for each map they just go and break maps turning them into get-stuck fiesta or can't-see-jackshyt-without-sweetfx. Most importantly, if every map has a long-range open area some people will just load up on long-range weaponry and camp there (we can perfectly see it in competitive scene). Old River City had about 600m of open area tops, new River City has 1500m of it ... considering they promised to keep River City a brawler-ish map. Forest Colony has between 2-3km of it. SRMs still don't register and lasers still require no skill to use. And then they wonder why meta is what it is now ...
