Now hang on. read this first.

These golden mechs were indeed a money grab. i see that. but in the end theyre still a way i as a player can support the game i have come to love. BUT I dont have $500 to flush down the toilet just like that. i have a job, and schooling, but not a lot of money.

Now i noticed in this, the Masakari collection is actually included with these golden mechs. that collection was like 250+ dollars itself. so justifying it, youre pretty much pay for two collections to get an elite bonus for one.

But what if we already bought the collection not knowing this? Sad this, I'd have probably swung it if I had known this back then. saved up, pennies in a jar, you know. But now? nah. I cant swing that for extra mechs and one shiny one..


So what if, for us Masakari owners, you guys lowered that price? if you brought that 500 down to 250 or 200 id start saving up for one. That's just me though. I hope this doesnt get too much hatred

Email support and ask for an upgrade to a Gold Mech. It's been long enough they might allow it if you pay the difference,

$500-$240? for masakari= $260 That put it right in your ballpark.

To maybe sweeten them up a bit don't tell them you're ready to flush money down the toilet, tell em you're ready to support the game you love. (Which isn't really flushing it then right?)

They'll absolutely let you upgrade your masakari pack, and pay the difference. Severe people have done that already.

I pre-ordered mine and wound up being able to refund my masakari package and then just bought my gold mech.

I highly doubt they've changed their policy since then and will turn away the chance to make another $260 for exactly zero cost on their end. Not like they actually have to spend any money producing a few 1s and 0s automatically once you click "purchase".

My views have changed on the matter. Back when MWO was getting stale to me, and they revealed the $500 for a gold mech thing, it helped me decide to quit. I felt offended.

That was a (semi?) immature response, I realize now. But you can't deny the game was really chugging back then, content wise.

I admit it still bugs me, but I remind myself that "this guy is supporting the dev, maybe this will help shoulder-elbow actuators to get into the game. Maybe it will get melee into the game. Maybe that will help single player or story driven content of ANY FREAKING KIND get into the game"... I stay... optimistic.

The only time the "Golden Mech" is actually appealing is if you are buying for you and a friend or significant other... where the cost difference between 2 $240 Masakari packs and $500 is actually "a $20 mech" addition.

Otherwise, it makes no sense on its own merits to go for a Gold Mech under most normal circumstances.

I have a Gold mech and I urge you not to give PGI anymore money currently. We need to force them to fix CW and add some sort of long term sustainability to this game.

Well, that depends. If you just want to contribute to the company, and want something shiny that very few people have, and you can afford to just drop that much money on such a thing... *shrugs* All the power to you, really.

I wish I could, personally. I'd so buy a gold Adder, just to have a gold Adder. I mean, really, of all the mechs you could get in gold... an Adder!

But, I'd need to be earning way the hell more than I earn now. My 80k/yr barely supports my family, and I can't really afford the mechs I do buy.

Well, I only mentioned it only because it's the only reason I could come up with.

Unless you like burning money, there's really NO reason to get a Gold Mech other than telling the world "I like PGI/MWO" or "I made a horrible mistake", which are both true in their own way.

1) Gold mech plus Masakari for $500 USD

2) Gold mech plus $240 in equivalent merchandise

3) Gold mech only for $260

I know this from dealing directly with PGI and using options 2 and 3.

So it looks like it is in your price range.

All I know, Is by some miracle they are able to swing the remaining Unseen mechs, I will buy ANOTHER gold mech if it means I get a Gold Warhammer or Marauder!

Prospects are looking better then ever. I hope that it eventually comes to pass.

Thank you guys. I figured PGI would possibly warm up to the idea of an upgrade, but i didnt know i wasnt alone in that thinking.

Personally? Ive gotten so many days of enjoyment from this game, and i love what its about and how its still reall fun and challenging! So supporting it isn't an idea I will alienate. There are some mechs i'll never touch, this much is true. But getting a super special mech of my own for helping these bros out sounds great to me, PENNIES ARE GOING INTO THE JAR!

(Also what is FMP? XD I dunno if I'm known by anyone here really lol)

CW can't be fixed until the New User Experience is created.

They could make gold paint for every mech mech and sell it as a one shot pattern. IS mech as well as Clanners, Hero could be painted gold too. If they did that, how many of us would die of indecisiveness, tormented trying to figure out which of their IS mech they want gold? We asked for that back when the invasion happened but they said no with silence. Fine, dont make more 250$.
